You probably need a 2000-2200 pack. That wil be a good balance beween duration and weight, and won't be overstressed if you keep currents below 20A.

This is a very popular size, and there are some remarkably good packs at this capacity going for very keen prices if you avoid the major brands (too expensive) or the real junk (buy from smaller vendors who have a reputation to lose) Also by keeping current down to less than 10C most packs will perform adequately.

Althought at full throttle on the griund the pack will run out in about 6 minutes, in the air at reduced throttle settings, you are likely to get around 20 minutes unless you induklge in full power dive bombing runs all the tme.

thanks vintage1 that's really helpful.

20mins in the air will be awesome! i'll start looking at 2200 packs, as you say there are some pretty competitive deals out there at the moment, shouldn't stress the bank balance too badly...

FWIW, I think 12-14 min of normal flying would be closer to what you might expect.

ALOT dpends on the type of plane. On my light scale/vinatge type stuff there is no way I CAN run at full throttle or the model is a speck! The warbird types eat up more because they are good for blistering low speed passes and great screaming climbs ..and large loops..

So if its aerobatics, yes, flight time comes down. If its a trainer, its liklely you will get what I said.
