Question
Hitec USB sim cable not a generic HID device?

Hi Hitec boffins.

I bought a Hitec USB interface for my Eclipse 7 transmitter so that I could use my Eclipse with X-Plane on my MacBook Pro.

Problem is that while the joystick device shows up in System Profiler:

Quote:
RC-Joystick:

Version: 0.00
Bus Power (mA): 500
Speed: Up to 1.5 Mb/sec
Manufacturer: MUltiplex
Product ID: 0x0003
Vendor ID: 0x0000
The little blue LED doesn't come on and no input seems to be received from the device.

I thought the interface would be a generic HID joystick device. Can you guys give me some pointers?

FYI, the interface works perfectly in my girlfriends 12" PowerBook running the exact same version of Mac OS X (10.4.7) as on my MacBook Pro.
On the MacBook Pro it is detected but the little light never flashes. This is really annoying because the PowerBook is a) not mine and b) too slow to run x-plane very well.

I discovered that it works fine in Windows, so I wound up using BootCamp to install windows and RealFlight. Good luck.

As jameotron notes, a Windows program is required.
Hitec PC Simulator Interface USB Cable "Software Requirements = Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista and FMS Flight Simulator "
Hitec Simulator Interface USB Cable- Instruction Sheet . (also known to work with JR, Futaba, Sanwa(aka Airtronics), Zebra & Kyosho Perfex amongst other TX.)

I hadn't seen this reply. Replying now to anyone that finds it in a search.

Windows software shouldn't be required at all. The software mentioned is just the FMS flight simulator. The cable should just be recognized as a USB joystick. That was happening in fact but no movements were being recognized. Linux works fine with it by the way. I haven't tested with recent versions of OSX.
