You know, Porsche has had a liquid clutch thats a liquid plastic in torque converter, and if you apply 12 Volts, it becomes a solid and you can vary the viscosity with voltage. Like they said in The Graduate: "Plastics!"

I remember reading about it when the 959 was still in its infancy- IIRC they planned on using it to do the torque split for the front-v-rear wheel drive.
pretty heady stuff however you slice it. Now where is my silver unitard?..Heading to work at Spacely Sprockets. |
