I read in the local forum of Thunder Tiger (in Tawanese character). It says the submarine will be released in the middle of the 3rd quarter this year.

The main US distributor for Thunder Tiger is Ace Hobby. Check with your local hobby shop to see if they are a dealer. Thunder Tiger makes one of the most popular RC helicopters currently available, so chances are if your local hobby shop carries RC helis, they may very well be an Ace dealer. Here is a link to the Ace website for this sub.

Do I have it right that for video, a cord has to run from the sub to the TV receiver?

I've been told the cable is necessary for the camera to relay pictures to the receiver once the sub is underwater. My camera/receiver arrived about 3 weeks ago and works fine apart from the picture being a little dull in bright sun (not that we've had much of that). I've been using it on a fishing boat until the sub arrives. I'm presuming the cable (ordered separately) will arrive with the sub. Latest advice is that it will be in the UK during September.

If anybody is looking to fit a camera to the neptune the best one to go for is the 2.4 ghz wireless system, this way you can fit a day/night camera with infa red led,s which will give a good light/picture upto 5 metres.

You won't get a signal from 5 meters under water with a 2.4 Ghz wireless camera (not unless you fitted a separate transmitter the size of an oven), about 20cm if you directly above the sub is more realistic and about 5cm if your a few meters away from it. Ever wondered why micowave ovens work at 2.4ghz? Its because thats the resonant fequency of water.

When using a 2.4 ghz system i extend the transmitter aerial so it sits above the water on a buoy, this is how i get a good signal.

right, 2.4GHz has very little water penetration. you'd be better off using 900MHz or lower frequencies that can actually get through water. or, i'd go rp6705's route and float the antenna on the surface with a buoy.

Heard this morning that there is still no sign of this. Apparently the kit is going to appear first with the RTR version to follow - sometime. Strange - bearing in mind that no mention of a kit was made in the early press releases. There is still no indication of what the price will be in the UK for either version. oor what the price differential is likely to be.
