Where to fly in Las Vegas?

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anybody could recommend a good flying area/field/park for electrics near the Las Vegas Strip. I'll be there for a week for my daughters dance competition & I plan on bringing a few parkflyers to keep me away from boredom I'd rather fly than gamble

TIA
Jay

It's about 15 mins from the strip. I can't tell you much about the place, I found it by accident. It's an electric field. I don't know the school hours or if it's a 12 month school or not, but obviously the field is off limits when school is in. There's often people there on weekends and pleasant holidays. Note the RC'ers cars parked at the lower end of the parking lot on that weekend pic from Google Maps. There are two shade covers.

I gotta tell ya -- it's been hot, and very windy. Just miserable for flying. But it looks like the wind might be down to 5mph for a while. 105F.

Happy flying-

The wife and myself head out to Vegas about four or five times a year. There is a field out close to the Hobby People on Boulder Highway close to Sams Town. I can't remember exactly how to get there but if you stop by the store the folks there will point you in the right direction.

About a ten minute drive once you turn onto Tropicana from the Strip.

The flying field South of Sams town will probably require ama, but there is the old UNLV stadium with lots of grass right next to it

Consider this your official invitation to our field, located near Red Rock on the west side of the valley. We are a glider and electric club, and have a large carpeted area to land on.

see our club's site, www.lasvegassoaring.org

Cheers!

czechyour6,

Thanks. I might check that out too. I got lots of time to kill.

Rick,

Thank you for your invitation. I'm very delighted to accept it. When will you be flying over there so we can meet in person?

Cool! now I'm excited.

well, Jay found us Las Vegas flyers at Sam Boyd..and we had a fun day with electrics, helicopters with cameras, and our giant scale. Jay brought some really really fast electrics and put on a show for us locals. Thanks for letting me fly FEDEX Jay,,hehe
thought I must admit..package dropoff was a little scary.!!
