The biggest critique for HK is stuff is always out of stock! If thats the case, dont order the item, or else it could take months to recieve your order. If everything is in stock, then its all good and doesnt take very long to recieve your stuff. Pay attention to the stock count of the items to determine if they are on back order or not.

Okay thank you. What stock count would be considered high enough to order with confidence? Also, how long does shipping from the Global Warehouse take?

Oh okay thanks. Although, it seems the electronics i want, the majority are only available in the Global Warehouse, so i would be ordering from there and not the US warehouse...

Global warehouse is anywhere from 3 weeks to a month from order to ship to the CONUS. I normally plan a do a large order every so often to get everything I need in one order, its more convienent that way.

I recently purchased an E-Flite airliner already assembled. There was no sign that it had ever been flown. After thinking about it for a bit, I decided to attempt to make it into a KC-135 Tanker. I have already installed two more engine nacelles and have the boom working. It not only extends and retracts, but the center actually telescopes in and out by servo also. I still have to cut and modify the vertical stab and rudder, add the pitot tube to the top of that and then its time to hack up the nose to make it look like it needs to. I will modify the mains so there will be only two axles on each with 4 wheels. I will get it flying before I go for the retracts which I want installed really badly.

Looks good, there are some previous posts in this thread by those who have also replicated a tanker...might be worth a search.

Thanks, I should have looked for other posts on the modifications, but I didnt think it would be too tough but I do hope my motors have enough power to fly it well. I am ready for the maiden flight. I still need to put markings and decals on it, and I will be finished for now.

Very nice! Was it kc135boomer who did the same conversion a while ago? I made mine into a four engined version (added two bare nacelles) and went to 4 wheel bogies --- I fly from grass. Would love to also convert mine to KC-135 and add retracts but it is now so beat up it would be too much effort in lieu of more models!!

Keep us posted with pics/video of maiden, very neat mods so far. Got any buddies who can tank up ???

Good luck with the maiden---keep an eye out for bogies, take evasive action if needed :-)

Thanks guys, We got the maiden done on Saturday and then a few more flights on Sunday. Its ready for WATTFEST 2012 in two more weeks. I still havent got the lighting system or the retracts in it, but I like it anyway. Its really a nice flyer and I was quite surprised at how many people were excited to watch it fly, I guess you dont see to many KC-135s modeled and flying. Heres the video from this weekend.
