Reservoir, south Beijing
So, Sept 24th we went to this dry reservoir to see if it' good to fly there. Unfortunately ground is sand and really dusty, so unless you don't mind you may fly, but otherwise you might be scared to ruin your engine.
Our Venus was more than perfect into there with hand launch and dead stick landings. Juhani got finally chance to fly and did so really well. I tested Ice-Fire as well, even couple discus launches, but seems it needs lots of practice. Shallow slope gave me couple of minutes slope soaring though ![]() Here's couple of photos of the place... |

I went the new place I mention to you today, feel very good you can see in the pics there, assemble many modelers came over 20 guys approximately, they had 4 gas powered big one and damage 2, route cause is engine dead in the air, so that means around 1000RMB's local gas engine is uncertainty. However, I got rest satisfied with today's flying.

Chen Bin, that looks better than BDA or reservoir, can you post or pm a Google Earth placemark of this flying place?

Bei An He flying place
Last sunday we went to Bei An He, northwest of Beijing to a small airfield (?). Place was ok and runaway better than so far in Beijing, but actual flying of anything but 3D models would be over at least some kind of buildings. Good place in overall, but bit far away (65km one way). Well, didn't feel that long on a first visit...

Miyun flying place
Hi again,
Today we went flying again after Beijing Model Expo finished and our car was full of merchandise from the expo ![]() This time we aimed to Miyun, north east of Beijing, about 90km from where we live. It's little bit far away for what we have used to, but what one would not do for a chance to fly in good location ![]() Plenty of room at Miyun ex-airfield and defineteley no side barriers or buildings causing you cold sweat when you go below 100meters ![]() Here you have few images as well as placemark for location. Good news is that ther is new Jingcheng -expressway from Beijing goes to about 2km from the airfield, so don't bother to take Jingshun Road at all if you value flying time instead of spending time in traffic jam... Let me know if you need further driving instructions... <Edit> One thing to add, today on a last flight Juhani flied Venus for the first time from take off to landing without the need of me to release my finger from trainer-switch. Congratulations!!!</edit> Last edited by illi; Oct 06, 2006 at 11:14 AM. |

Hi Guys,
Winter is now here in Beijing. Any plans of flying your planes? Actually, I just want to revive the thread. It disappeared from the list. Cheers, Albert |
