Hi James,

Welcome to Beijing RCGroups. GWS is hard to find here in Beijing, they are available in Shanghai and Guangzhou. The more popular brand here is World Models and LHS here carry most of their products.

Is your school in the Haidian District? If so, the nearest one should be Fei Cai Hong, near the Agriculture University. The carry mostly glow planes and a few electric one and a bit pricey. Their tel number is 62115655.

Probably the most popular one is Feng Model in Fengtai district, nearby west 4th ring road. They have the largest selection of glow and electric planes and they also sell Lipos and Tower Pro cdrom outrunners Tel. 63830496, 63815532.

For on-line shops, HiModel is a good supplier and they deliver on time. They are located in Qingdao and the owners are good english speakers. The have two sites and if you can read chinese, their chinese site have prices in RMB which, IMO, differs from their english site. Visit the link below.

http://www.himodel.com/cn/

BTW, we fly mode1 here, throttle stick is on the right side. If you fly mode2, I suggest to have your radio sent over here.

There is a group of locals that fly every weekend at the Haidian Park. I've joined them on a few occasions and most of them fly 3d foamies. They also venture out to other locations and fly their bigger planes.

And if you want to practice your chinese reading and get to know more about the China rc scene, join the http://www.5irc.com/ . Loads of info, on-line shops and blogs. Another site I can recommend is http://www.modeldiy.com/

Cheers,
Albert

Dear Albert,
Thanks for your quick reply! I guess I can modify GWS Tx's to mode 2 if I can find them here, but if not, I'll get them from the States. Do you guys also fly on 72mhz?
I'll check out the group at Haidian park someday. The prices of the online shop dont look bad at all! too bad I dont have a credit card :P
Anyways, thanks for the information! I'll check out the hobby shop sometime

-James

I'm not very familiar with helis, but Feng Models carries a wide selection of electric and glow helis. Another LHS near my home also sells helis, check out their site.

BTW, we use 72mhz for flight, as well as 40,35 and 36mhz.

Cheers,
Albert

Too bad I can't join you guys, Sunday is family day . But...I'll be hanging around Haidian Park with my Chipmunk EP while waiting for my son to finish his extra school activities. I'll be there around 8:30am till 9:00am, enough for 3 five minute flights.
Have a good time at the BDA

Hi guys,

Yes, I got a can of CoolPower and Arto has fixed the Sensation We are ready for flying, but might want to get a place with more space around where to fly. I went to see the BDA on friday and it's still flyable without lightpoles, but there is much traffic coming and going.

Do we have photos of that reservoir place somewhere? Might want to give it a try some day.

Do we have any idea where this place is: http://www.jx-rc.com/XCTP.htm Seems that there is much more space without surroundings. Traffic seems to be problem over there as well, see the video: http://www.jx-rc.com/XCSP.htm

I got another model into my fleet. This time something different to nitro models, a DLG glider from www.peak-hobby.com. At the moment waiting for radio installations, maybe one or two weeks more for the first flight...

Goodbye Chipmunk

Hi Guys,

In contrast to a very lovely day, I sadly lost my Super Chipmunk EP in a crash this morning at the Haidian Park. I was getting reading to land and on the final turn, I lost total control, plane not responding to my stick movement and the plane went straight to the ground . Its definitely rf interference, there were two other flyers using the same frequency who just arrived as I was preparing to land . I didn't have much luck flying in that park. Last winter, my EP trainer went beserk and crash landed in the frozen lake full of ice skaters. Luckily no one got hurt.

Oh well, I still got my Extra 300S and a newly assembled Whirlwind Foamy 3D. Hope to join you guys some time soon

Cheers,
Albert

No more flying at BDA :(

Hi,

We stopped by at the BDA today and situation is not so good anymore, they have put up the streetlights so that would mean that unless you are really good pilot you may hit the pole...

Any new places to go?

Baby got very low idle speed and dulcet songs, when WOT (wide open throttle), more power set free!
I never imagine the fuel is so so different!
How you guys think about it ? do you feel it up?
I had same experience with my Y.S 1.40 FZ engine, after I change to Cool Power the Y.S engine works very good
