Hi Chen Bin,

I'm a foreigner living in Beijing for many years. My buddies are still on holiday, i'll let you know as soon as we have plans. My plane is an Extra 300S with a .46 ASP. I also fly my electrics every weekend in Wang Jing where I live. Glad to meet you

Cheers,
Albert

Today I flew my G202 70 4c again, feel very good because I re-cover the fuselage since somewhere cracked not crash, so every thing went smoothly. The other reason is that I changed fuel from TOP to COOLPOWER, it is amazing happened, it'a a quite different things, you know, my engine is haughtiness and play me formerly, no idle rpm after remove battery, I sent it to factory to repair, they said just cause is overheat, but this time, every thing is OK! Baby got very low idle speed and dulcet songs, when WOT (wide open throttle), more power set free!
I never imagine the fuel is so so different!
How you guys think about it ? do you feel it up?

Hi Chen Bin,

Glad that you got your engine running. From my experience that local fuel feels not to have enough oil in it and that may be causing the overheating.

When I used my .70 four stroke for the first time with that fuel it had same problems as you have had, but then I added 1dl of oil into fuel and after that it has been working well. Maybe I will change to Cool Power as well?

No more flying at the BDA?

Guys,

We might need to find a new flying site. Today I saw new street lights already erected on the main avenue and side streets on the BDA extension. The street we use to fly is now being fixed for sidewalk and I feel that the street lights will follow shortly. Better to check it our first before we go there next weekend or it would be a waste of time.

Too bad the wind today did not die down till 6:00 pm. Better luck next time.

More flying

So, holidays are over and back in Beijing. Another _really_ hot day at the flying place in BDA. This time more people than what I have seen there, both locals and foreigners, some heli's as well. Maybe the last one there since seems that they are going to raise the streetlights soon. No interest to start dodging the poles Even now there were far too much traffic and construction material on the roadsides. Pile of tiles became unfortunate destiny of Arto's Sensation, on the pic the plane still in perfect condition. Well, at least my .70FS on Groovy 50 run well with borrowed cool power. Next time I'll have my own bottle

I am wondering if Jialong(sp?) Huang the FAI rep.and team manager for aeromodelling is still active in Beijing?

I met him in 8/ 1985 at World Freeflight championships in Yugoslavia, again late 1985 in Melboune Australia and saw him in Beijing in 3/1988.

Some years ago he had an email address, but I have not been able to contact him for some time-----does anybody here know him please. The Chinese FAI flyers may be able to help. Thank you. Howard Gostelow Australia.

I had the landing gear repaired with a strong aluminum legs, changed a new suit of gear wheels in damaged servo, glue up the gemel of aileron, my plane can't wait to go back runway!
Illi, mentioned your .70FS on 50 groovy, and what size prop you used? mine is wood 13x7 seems bigger and got low rpm.

Possible flying sites

Guys,

Here are links to possible flying sites we can avail on our next meet.

Chen Bin mentioned this site to me today, describing it as wide but not very clean. Check out the pics.

more pics of the site taken by the electric flyers group of Beijing

Here is the other site located near the summer palace.

And the reply given to my post on directions in Chinese. Chen Bin, grateful if you can translate this for us.

I'll get in touch this week with my old flight instructor and see if he has any other sites to recommend. I'll keep you guys posted.

Cheers,
Albert

Sorry, Albert, the first linkage you posted is not i mean the place, that place is not good for engine powered planes just right for glide, almost no runway to take off and easy to crack the model, i have been there and feel dissatisfactory.
I mean a dry reservoir named Niantan is a good place and people make a simple runway for take off.
I try to find out some pics to show you and IMO, we should be old place first next weekend, and make discussion where shall we go, actually, there is good place very close to our current place. and if you guys want to reservoir, I can lead the way.

Prop

Chen Bin, I use 13x6 prop on Magnum .70 FS. Gives lot's of thrust without too high speed, just the way I like it. Seems to be around 11.000rpm with that setup. Needs some adjustment still since I'm going to change fuel from Belmax to Cool Power.

China Model Exhibition

Block your calendars between October 3-6, 2006. I've been attending this event since 2002. It's held at the Beijing Exhibition Center near the Beijing Zoo. Some exhibitors sell their products on site so save up and bring lots of cash.

Hope soon to attend this event, we do get bag of cheaper things from the exhibition, so i don't buy anything as far as that time.
I'm figuring on a biplane fixing 91 4c or more bigger could fix my 25cc gas engine as ARF, hopefully, your guys could find out your favorite.
If no rain this weekend, i will fly in BDA our old runway, see you all then.

cmexpo

Good timing Albert,

I was just going to post a question if you are going to go there

We went to see the event last year with Arto, but were there on last day so everyone was already bagging their items. This year must be there in time...
