GreenAir Designs Lancaster Build

Brian from Greenair Designs, http://www.greenairdesigns.com asked me if fancied trying out a pre-production version of their new Lancaster model, so i leapt at the chance and thought i'd take some photo's along the way
I'm building without any instructions or diagrams, but after laying all the parts out and looking at photo's of the real thing, it looks fairly straightforward (famous last words!).

Here's a couple of pictures of the fuselage so far:

Looking good so far! One of the select few to have a pre-production Lanc. The boys (my self included) have a few projects on the go! The first lanc built used 4 brushless motors and as you can expect, it had no problems at all with flying. Mine is going to use 4 brushed geared 280`s with scale`ish 3 blade props.
What are your thoughts on powering yours?
Fantastic pics by the way!,

Cheers Ben C.

Thanks Ben, it's job to find enough floorspace to take photo's!

I've got a collection of unused 280 motors which i might use direct drive with GWS props, still undecided at the mo tho.
Mike at Greenair fitted 4 CD ROM motors to his and apparently it only needs low throttle as the wing incidence is set for scale speed flight so it doesn't need tons of power. (Unless you want to carry a payload, lol!)

Yeah he uses 2S4P giving 4Amp and he flew for 17 mins. Cruises at half throttle. It hand launches with ease, like a powered glider. My advice to you is to include rudder movement to give a much more scale like flight.
We are going to play around with the kit to see what sort of payload you can carry. With this much power and with such a massive wing, it will be a lot

Great subject here. Can anyone post photos of Mike's finished plane? How big is she? I'm watching intently.

I just went to the website and watched the flying video. Impressive flyer. Lumbers about very sedately just as it should. Seems to have very good slow flying ability. I didn't see any specs or price on it.

Sounds like a great combo, P6Mole! I might go for the same set up in the end now that the CDROM motors are such a good price.
Brian mentioned including rudder so i will definatley be doing that, cheers

I saw Mike yesterday and he slapped me because he is flying it on 2S3P. 62" span.
We will be at Wings and Wheels where we hope to have both a brushed and a brushless Lanc, as well as some F-6 lightnings. (Depending on time available to build).

Tommy,
I have no idea when th 110 will be released hopfully soon, we've just spent the last 3 days getting the lanc and F6 EE ligntning kits ready for sale, along with a large order to go to the US.
The Mossie proto is being built atm and will probably be the next to be launched.
We have so many plane we would like to kit but just not enough hours in the day to do them, as always thought requests are more than welcome..

As for the avatar.....that's Fat bird... Fat birds don't fly, so we don't design them...

Ok Bry.
It's on hold till i find out what those parts are as i dont want to stick the top and base on til i'm sure.

Should be picking some glue up today for the wings, i'll try not to dissolve them!

What size and make are the 3 bladed props?

Are all of the other designs on the site black Depron as well? I'm wondering about the weight of paint required to cover the black.
