Shift-click opens new window but also changes original window

This is a weird one that just started happening this morning. I'm using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0.026.

I go to the discussion forums and of course get a list of forums. If I hold down Shift and click on a Forum, it opens up a new window with the chosen forum like it should. However, it also opens up the selected forum in the original window. It never used to do this before. This is kind of a pain because then I have to use "Back" in the original window, or open a new window using Right Click then selecting "Open in New Window".

When I shift-click on a thread, it works fine (original window stays there, thread is opened in a new window).
