Here's an idea I was messing around with this weekend, I wanted to make a plane that was tough for combat and could right itself if knocked out of the sky, so you don't have to keep running over and picking it up after every crash. Its not perfect and this is just the first prototype but it is almost working, I have a new version I'm building to try and correct some of the error encountered from the first one mainly the nose stands. I think there are many more ideas you guys can come up with and maybe we can work on creating the ultimate combat plane!

I like the concept! Prop is protected, seems very crashworthy. I think it will work great. Keep us posted on the revision. I like flying odd looking planes Ask Gene or GPW here on rcgroups, they will have some suggestions for you I'm sure.

Something like this made from epp foam with cf protection could become very popular amongst combat flyers if it was light enough to be flown well with a cheap brushless motor / esc (like the ones offered at bp) power system. Every man loves competition, and wants a chance to bash things (we're just big boys according to my wife) without breaking them. You might be on to something here.

Note: 2 changes have been made, both minor:

The main wrap-around rods can be 2x35.5", jopined at the center of the nose with one of the T-connectors: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=117

The cross beams should be 16.5" instead of 16.25".

WIND TEST IT!! If it handles 10 mph winds I think you have a winner!

It would be less likely to tumble if you put wheels on the front of the skids.

Neat video. It reminds me of Star Wars the way it looks like a Tie Fighter when it is coming at you and the flying among the trees also looks like that other scene in a different Star Wars movie.

Neat airplane!

I had the day off today so, I finished up the new version. I had to do some hacking and adding. But I finally got it flying great!. Also got the landing and take offs working better by adding the 'strut' further out. Its really fun and this thing takes a beating!. Need another person here that flys to try out its fighting ability. I will post a video soon of the new one. Here is a pic to keep you going.
The rods Im using are from a couple popped hover disc. I think they are fiberglass because they are white. Thanks for all the good words!

ps Sorry for the sharpie scribble, Im working on stickers and I got as far as the guns and I have to go out tonight, so I will show you the finished panels on part three. I want them to look heavy and armed to the hilt.. I could have different arsenals like rocket graphics instead of the gun barrels

Now the big question....What are the specs? Motor,servos,AUW.

The specs are a cheap BP-08, ESC-gws,3c 1500, gws pico servo 10x4.7prop gws
I made a new video tonight but have not compiled it yet. I love these long daylight hours. I get home from work and still have tome to fly! I will be making a new video tomorrow if all goes well Ill post it.

I was also thinking of bumper cars in the sky.A little more power and it would be great combat.That is the kind of idea that could make a couple bucks ,if you had the time and the head to do it ! !
