Electric Jet Factory F-86

Flew the F-86 today and got some great video. Should be up on EJF web site by Sunday night. The plane is flying great. Take offs are fast and nice climb out. USing the HW 730 fan and Aveox 1412/2Y motor on 18 cells. Going to try using a 1415/2Y next. The Midi fan version should be ready to fly in about 3 weeks. Keep you all Robert has kits avaiable. ;-)

The HW 730 version is 6.5 lb. We are hoping on the Midi version to get the weight down to 6.0 lb.

I'm going a Midi fan version also. I think the 1409/2Y is not big enough. I'm using the 1412/2Y or Hacker D50-18S motor.

I have this plane, kit was bought in 1983. I have flown it twice on a Midi Fan, Ultra 930-6 and 20 cells. Weight is 7 lbs. It takes off fine. I have yet to land without damage. It does not like to be flown too slow so remember to keep the speed up on landing.

I'm in the process of fixing the nose again.

Bob, I will be really interested to know how you plan to get the weight down to 6 lbs

To help keep the weight down. I do not cut the hatch out. This adds a great deal of strength to the nose. The fan is mounted the same way as the JHH F-86. Two plywood "T" pieces that mount to the fuselage sides. I do not use the plywood bulkheads. I make the canopy a removalable hatch to allow access to the inside for wire hook up. With the brushless setup I'm usung 18 2400 ma cells (zapped). The aux inlet in the wing and the blow-in doors on the fus are used. I put a floor (1/64 plywood)in the fus running from the inlet to the LE of the wing (velcro). This smooths the air coming in from the nose and blow-in doors. All the mods with be in the Midi fan version of the kit. Note the HW 730 version does use both ply bulkheads.
