Throttle Hold

Should the Idle up switch be on the right or left?

Should the Throttle hold be on the left or right?

These two questions go together

My Eclipse 7 works the same way. Just curious, is this standard on all heli radios?

All the Futaba and JR radios as a standard have the Throttle Hold on the Right and the Idle Up on the left.

So if you change brands to JR or Futaba someday you might have some "habits" to unlearn.

I think there are two versions for the JR radios. My JR radio (Japan version) have the throttle hold on the left while the Idle up on the right.

Yes, there are different stick and switch configurations available for Futaba and JR. The default used by all but a very few flyers in the US is Mode 2. Other Modes 1,3 and 4 are available. Usually the switch for Idle Up is on the same side of the radio as the Throttle stick.

In Mode 1 the Throttle is on the right stick with Alieron and the left stick is Rudder and Elevator (Idle Up is on the right side).

In Mode 2 the Throttle and Rudder are on the left stick and Elevator and Alieron are on the right (Idle Up is on the left).

Mode 4 is the reverse of Mode 1

Mode 3 is the reverse of Mode 2

Complicated isn't it?

If you get an airplane version of the Futaba radios, the switchs are reversed as well eventhough they have identical software to heli versions.

on 9C/9Z all switches/knobs are not labeled with their functions, just A-B-C-D-etc. Then you assign whatever you want to each switch.

Hi,

Just to add to the fun:

I fly mode 1 and when my trottle stick is at 0 % the stick at my TX is down.
Others at the local club fly the same mode but with a reversed trottle setting (empty trottle: stick up). They also reverse the pitch setting when they fly heli, they have full up pitch with the stick down.

So now we have 8 modes

Haha...there are so many modes of control. So don't just take up your friend's control and fly

Is it true that all the switches can be interchange positionally?

the control sticks are alleged interchangeable with the removal of the spring at one stick and the installation of that spring at the other stick.
