Yeah, that's the way I always fly! I can do all of that under 25ft.

I like the way he slips it in.... I CAN do that with the Porsche. Matter of fact I DID do that with my first Porsche at 160mph. My brakes are much better though.
I went from 160mph to 0mph in about 100ft. I guess that tree helped. Funny how I rolled the Porsche but I can't roll my TM!

Maybe if you use a tree you can roll the tm. Of course you might roll it right into the trash heap...

I've already tried that. That's why it won't fly higher than 25ft.

Was it a wood tree? Maybe a foam tree would be better...

[QUOTE=mclarkson;23588894]I give it a bit more of a workout:

The Said It Shouldn't Be Done - Pico Moth Aileron Mod & Glassed Wings (2 min 16 sec)

Congrats to mclarkson for the cool TM mods.

I've used a layer of packing tape (thin stuff) on the underside of the wings,it adds only several grams...plus a lot of strength.

I'm joining the ranks of PTM flyers. I have a PTM going together. Hopefully a floater, light build, 2730-1300 (same weight as the stock gearboxed motor, CC Phx-10, 46 gram 460mah 3S nano tech, two 5 gram servos.

I have both the "std" and 3D rudder and elevator. Any reason I shouldn't use the (slightly larger) 3D rudder/elevator? I'm using the under-cambered wings NOT the flat 3D wings. No ailerons.

They are not needed at all. With plenty of throw on the stock tail feathers the PTM is very agile. I can hold the nose up on mine and hold rudder over and just about turn in its own length. The elevator is also very effective. No real benefit to not using them.

Gotta go along with Wes on this one. I have a 3D Moth and the rudder and elevators on it are huge. Go ahead and built it stock and light and have fun flying it low and slow.

Hey, Wes.... I found pictures of the 25ft moth at full altitude and one where I'm landing and taking off on one wheel. I'll have to find them again and post them.

I managed to get out to the airport the day before yesterday and got a couple of flights in with my TM. Was pretty windy but she flew well. Was able to land with no roll out.

While I was there the local Oklahoma Highway Patrol pilot drove up and watched me fly. He liked it too.
He is also on the airport board with the city and wants me to attend the next meeting. He wants to keep the r/c pilots in mind when the make plans for the future of the airport. THat cannot be a bad thing!
