I have the late upgrade PTM kit with 350C motor and there is an
instruction sheet showing how to do ailerons on both wing.
But I am going to build it as a light 3 channel PTM

A 350c motor seems way overkill and heavy.

I agree. It is a poor match for the Pico Tigermoth. There are better Tigermoth choices both from GWS and others if a person wants a heavier/faster Tigermoth.
The lil fella excels at the super light low and slow end of the scale.

Looks like in addition to the new HK TM that there's yet another from someone's good friends at Banana Hobby:

Tiger Moth Super Mini RC Biplane! Flight Review in HD! (9 min 25 sec)

Personally, the GWS PICO is my favorite and of course the one that started it all, but I did order the HK version and am anxiously awaiting its arrival - well, I know I have to wait longer than that. The HK version is a little bigger than the one from BH and appears to have more scale detail, but the one above from BH looks purty nice too! I also like the BH color scheme.

GWS, where are you???

I use 350's, and love them. Still gives a great gear noise that I like, but the plane flies very slow. Yet has good power when you want it. I get ~10 minute flights from an 800mah lipo.

I don't doubt that the lighter motors are giving slower flights. I have a Jenny (stock 250 brushless), it is very slow - and it will stay grounded in very light winds when the Tiger Moth will still fly.

The 350 is most certainly not overkill.

About 1/2 into this vid, I slow it down quite a bit.

I agree... but when I bought the 3D Tiger Moth....It comes with a 350 installed.
It flies great but it's too fast to be a regular Pico TM. It's 4 channel with upper and lower ailerons... but I'd much rather fly my Pico Moth with the stock motor.

As far as turns go... I like to do pylon turns with the Pico. I give it a little up elevator...then full rudder until it's completely on it's side... then hard up elevator... It's a high G turn for a TM so be careful or you'll fold the wings.

For those who may be interested, there is a thread going on the HK TM here:

I think the kit looks great. But, in the video... if he was flying as slow as possible...it's still too fast! Is that just me, or does anyone else see it? I guess there will never be a TM like the original Pico when it comes to that.

Thanks for the liink, Aeronca!

I totally agree that there is ONE AND ONLY TM, and that is the GWS Pico version with the IPS "A" gearbox! I also agree that the HK version has too high a wing loading to fly as slowly, relaxingly, and majestically as the GWS TM. Heck, I'll go so far as to say I doubt we will ever see the likes of such a plane again that can endear itself to so many.

Wes gave us all a taste by saying that the HK version flight envelope is between a Pico and a 400, and from other videos I have seen, I sense it flies more like the 400 than the Pico. However, that being said, the 400 is a fine flyer so I look forward to my experience with HK's version, although after reading through the thread above (after ordering it!), getting one in decent flying condition may be the trick!

Oh, man... you're breaking my heart! I don't think I've ever heard of anyone complain about this plane. Everyone loves it.

Yep, I forgot what Wes posted until you reminded me. The TM 400 is one I have never owned nor flown. I really should have one.... Since this HK version came out... everyone seems to be back ordered on them. So....post your build of the new one if you can. This is one I want to know more about before I buy.

Buzz,

He can't post a build thread on it..... There is no real building too it!
The video they posted of it he is flying it a lot faster then it has to.
I have flown mine MUCH slower then the video.

If someone assembles it that has hands that do not drop things constantly and do not shake then they can have it in the air in an hour or less. There is really only some final assembly to do.

I didn't know that. Must be like the Jenny kit. Glad to hear it will fly slow also.... Have you recuperated from your fly in? I still can't believe you guys raised more than $6,000 for MS research! Way to go Wes!

I still haven't finished he Jenny... but I've read some things about it that aren't too good. Some said it would turn... others say it is horrible to turn... apparently it slips some before it will turn. But, it sure is "purdy"!!
