I would be willing to bet it is the new version. Tower has to be selling a lot of these for $45.00 so I am sure there stock is fairly fresh compared to some of the smaller resellers.

The GWS I just bought from my lhs which they ordered for me has a white cowl.
But http://www.allerc.com has black ones.

Makes me wonder which is correct.

Here are a few pics of my 2nd Tiger Moth. My first was a TM3D, and I had a lot of trouble with it.

But this one is a PTM350, and it's an absolute joy to fly.
I did a few mods to this one, during the build, and after a crash or two.

I started out by puting 1/64 ply on the sides of the fuse. May have been un-necessary, but after my 3D busted twice at the wood pegs, I didn't want to see that again.

Built up the landing gear a bit, works pretty good, but I still get a twisted wheel alignment on some landings.

I put wing wires on, and after a good crash, I added a carbon tube under the lower wing. It's split in the middle, and a wire is epoxied in the tube to give dihedral.

The wheels are 2.5 Dubro, with paper covers.

As of this writing, I'm using a 8.4 600mah NiMh 7 cell battery. I changed the shape of it so it's as long as can be. It sits from the "firewall" all the way to the trailing edge of the lower wing.

But I do have a Lipo charger on it's way, and will be using those. I wanted a way to get the battery out easy, but make it a bit nicer than just slinging it underneath with rubber bands. So I made a little foam box with a door. The rear half of the box open up when the rubber bands are slid over. I have a 2 cell, 800mah, but I made it big enough for a slightly larger battery.

As far as paint, I just used some very light coats of regular enamal spray paint. Couldn't find what I wanted in acrylic.

Oh, one last mod I did, which is my favorite. I reduced the height of the struts by 5/8 inch. That brought the top wing down a bit, and also back a bit.
I was not happy with the very high top wing on the stock moth.

I've had this plane in some pretty stiff wind, it does great! What a fun plane.

Oh, forgot to mention - AUW is 13.2oz - remember, it's a 350.

7Car7,
I like the paint job. Yep the extra weight is all muscle because I don't see any extra fat on it.

They are remarkable little planes. Hard to abuse them to the point they don't fly......although with a lot of effort you can keep the altitude down . Wonder what kind of Buzz that will start around here?

Peace,
Lyle

Our little CS500-2S fits the battery area very nicely. I easily get 15+ minute flights with it, as I'm not using full-throttle very much. I also mount batteries in the front cockpit area... works great!

Well I'm not going to be flying or driving for awhile. I hit a palm tree in my Porsche at 100 mph and flipped the car seven times. I look as beat up as my old Tiger Moth. The car is totaled, but I am still alive. I can't type because of a cast on my arm. Be back as soon as I can. I may post pictures of the wrecked car later. Here is what I look like.

Buzz,
Glad you were able to give us a report. Sorry for your having to give such a report. Will pray for fast but sure healing. Considering what you described, you look pretty good.

I temporarily withdraw any smart _ _ _ comments and/or jokes about your and/or your moth.

Peace and rest to you,
Lyle

OK, just for that, I just might make it a point to pay you a visit, when I head down (or return) from Stuart, FL over Thanksgiving time. I might just bring my 1468 foot Moth! For sure I will check up on you to see you are on the proper mend. Of all the nerve, flipping your Porshe. Like it or not, you have quite a following out here in Moth Cyber-Space, and we don't cotton to our friends getting hurt, let alone their Moths getting crashed.
So, focus on getting your struts strengthened, your cowl corrected, and your wheels aligned properly! That's an order!!

Oh yeah, you look better than I do, even after the crash!!

Good God Buzz! Who do you think you are Evel Knievel????
Glad your OK buddy! The car can be replaced however keep in mind that there comes a time when we must admit we shouldn't be doing such things any longer! (owned my last motorcycle 20 years ago). Heal quick!

Eeeek! Buzz I hope you get better real soon!

Wow... I used to drive that fast all the time ten years ago, but I've become much more zen and relaxed now, and I'm only a *hair* over thirty! 75-80mph is my speed of choice now

I'm very glad you walked out of that one!

Monoplane version has been mentioned. I ran across a 3-view of it, FYI.

Holy biplanes, Buzz! Man, I'm glad you look as good as you do after flipping 7 times at 100 mph (unless someone's behind you propping you up). You ARE lucky to have walked away from that one. Like Boomer said, "...the car can be replaced..." but, remember, you can't! Mend fast and mend completely, we need your helpful hints and down-home levity!

God speed,

Aeronca

More importantly, he is liable to think we don't care any more!! Then, he might do something really drastic.....convert his 25 ft. Moth into a 37-1/2 ft triplane (I figure he's getting 12-1/2 feet per wing). Now is when Buzz really needs our support.
