Gene is doing alright. Living the retired life. He just picked me up last week at the airport from a biz trip. I'll have to get him on here to say hi.

WOW! Sweet ride Luis! ^_^

HAPPY FATHERS DAY GUYS!

Hmm.. Here I was thinking I'd be doing far more building than flying this summer, but over the past couple of days, the temperatures have soared and the skies have clears! Yeeha! Guess what I'm doing today?

And Luis, please say HI! to Gene for me!

Cheers!

K

While I was in Sussex, NJ, I had the chance to stop by the old Sussex Airport to see if there was any action, and if I remember correctly, this is the plane that I used to take lessons in (non-logged, but fun none the less). I could be wrong, it could have been one of the other ones, but something stood out in my memory.

this might be a dumb question, and one that's been asked over and over again, but what was the origional prop size that came with the pico moth as shipped from GWS, was it a 9x7 or a 10x7? and wwhat's the best size and pitch prop to use with the stock setup?

I can't find the manual anymore, and I done went and forgot what size prop was suposed to be on the thing to begine with.

I'm thinking it was a 9x7 or 0907

Most of mine came with a 9070 slowfly. The first one came with that and a 1047 slowfly.
I liked the 9070 best with tht stock motor.

ok, then I'll get a 9x7 for it, the last prop I had on it was an APC that I cut down and rebalanced, it had more blade area and did real well, I just couldn't remember if it was a 10x7 or a 9x7

I'm going to cry.. It's BEYOOOOTIFUL out there! High of 75deg, blue skies, not a cloud in sight, flags fluttering lazily about... and me stuck in the office with my moth sitting at home...

Well now, if you are on daylight time you can still get a flight in this evening. That is if that dang old job doesn't keep you overtime. Better yet, just retire and come on down to Florida.

Likewise, stuck at work with the moth at home. But yesterday I brought her to work to show a couple of coworkers how she could fly. I even put in a new etec 450mAh battery in her (second charge, so still getting better) and they were impressed. Flew around an empty parking lot, in the wind, flew inverted, did some loops, then did a mild turn, and the wings just folded right up, and down she went. Fortunately into the grass, but still broke the prop and motor stick and stripped the spur gear. Motor, prop shaft and BP aluminum gearbox all fine. So about $3 to fix. Since both wings came apart on landing, I now have a 4 winged moth! Could call it a bi-biplane, or bye-byeplane, but no, I will fix her once again. There must have been some damage from the last crash that I didn't see, or she's getting heavy in her old age. At any rate, it must be time to brace those wings.
Remember Kitty, why we all go to work--to pay for moth parts and batteries, of course!
