Brushless question

I have a Himax 2015-4100 & CC10 lying around, is it a good option to put into my GWS pico tiger moth?

If yes, what prop, direct or geared, & how do I mount it & install prop?

ANY help GREATLY appreciated, please respond soon, going flying Saturday

Lee,

WAY too much motor! You CAN put it in, and with some reinforcing it will fly probably alright but nothing like a pico Moth.

Well, my new 5in1 just got here today. But all the excitement was taken out thanks to canada customs...

Not only did they charge me tax on the price I paid, but they opened everything! I mean everything, like the box, the little carrying pouch, even the installation cd. What a bunch of jackasses. It would cost me less to have a PO box in Michigan and drive there to pick it up...

(a really pissed off) Corey

Sorry to hear that Corey :\ Reminds me of the time I was having network taps shipped up here and customs actually partially dismantled the units and *didn't* put them back together!

I could just picture them going "Ya put yer weed in here man..." :P

Rich, you have now proven that your written French is better than mine! Crazy how much stuff I forget over time... entire subjects, languages even! all inevitably replaced with useless trivia knowledge...

Look at it this way Corey, at least you've got it now! Who knows? You might even have a snapshot of some "hottie" Custom's Agent in there!

Charge it up on your USB cable for a couple of hours and then let's see some movies from 'ya!

Gargoyle7; I got the attached little beauty from Dan at wildrc.com. I have not flown it, but am certain that it will be ideal for the Pico TM.
I exchanged the prop shaft with a threaded one, from my old Pico. (Not hard to do, and a perfect fit!). The motor came with an extruded aluminum heat-radiator/stick-mount, and after a little creative stick work, should be ideal. The CC Thunderbird 9 ought to be ideal for it.

Aeronica,
Funny, I checked it for photos first thing... But nothing. I could only hope for a hottie customs agent's pics on there. lol ......... I've been single too long.......

I'm just pissed that every time I go pick up something in the mail it costs me another $20. I already pay too much tax, where's my return? My road is littered with cracks and potholes, my water tastes awful, and I'm always last for snow removal. Grrrrrrrr

Lancer,
Whats the kv on that one? I can't wait to see your Moth once she's done! I noticed you've sanded the whole fuse. Do you plan on wbpu'ing the whole thing? If so, I'm very interested in the weight gain you incur. I'm about ready to do the same on mine.

Ray,

If you have an airbrush, then cheap water based paints diluted with windsheild washer fluid work best. But if you need spray cans, testors have a foam safe line. Either way, go really light on the paint. It weighs a ton compared with a well built Moth.

The best paint is acrylic sprayed from an airbrush, although I had some luck with foam safe spray paint.

And on another note, I have discovered the limit the GWS motors can take. I poped mine today on the first flight. Annoying. I had 5 full lipos and 4mph winds on a 66 degree day.

But it didn't ruin my day, I was just forced to fly my new Eflite P47 instead.

Best as I can tell, about 1300KV. New Pico is to replace veteran R2185,(see attached), which flew away last summer, taking my Feigao with her, as near as we can figure, headed home to Taiwan, (in formation with Basketcase's, which left Florida, a few days earlier). She will be finished as a summer 1940 trainer of "The Few", to whom I feel undying gratitude. More to follow. (Will keep track of the weights).

Not much to figure out! Wife & I fly our Picos together. Out the corner of my eye, I saw hers low & in a bad attitude, (low batt.),and did the typical husbandly things, thereby getting distracted long enough to lose track of mine!
The elderly couple, slogging through the rugged river canyon, searching for the toy plane, would make a heart-wrenching survival movie. (The black toe-nail I got from that hike just fell off, the other day).
I'm pretty sure I have seen Swedish TMs, as you describe, (might have been Finns). Search airliners.net for "DH-82", and you're bound to find one you like! Good luck.
Roger & Judy.

Tigermoth colors,flights,etc.

Rodger,Thanks for the link,I tried it and also googled 'tigermoth airplane' and it brought up a bunch of info...mostly history links and flight demo services..real big in Australia. It would be way cool to buy a flight in a real T'Moth for about $300/hr....undecided about the color of my new Moth...silver trimmed in yellow looked good.
