1) My wife noticed I had scraped up the skin on my arms, and said "climbing trees?" (knowing that I must have gotten scraped up while retrieving a free flight model from a tree).

2) The other day my wife asked me why there were pieces of foam core lying out on the lawn. I told her that I was soaking the paper off. Her only response was "gotcha" as in: oh of course, you need the foam for another model.

When a new box comes in the mail and she says "Where are you going to keep that; there is already no room under the bed...and the guest bed" ...

Mine has an open invatation to come out to the barn and talk anytime. I noticed she does come visit a lot more here lately... Am I spending to much quality time alone??? And she's quit calling the planes "Your Toys."

Does this mean eventually wives become resigned to this hobby?

The other night she said, don't you need to work on your planes or something to get ready for Saturday? And when those little boxes come she doesn't even comment on them any more. She just tells me there are some boxes on the workbench in my workshop.

Still I don't think she is fully resigned yet. Is there something I can do to speed that up? What I spend on this hobby doesn't even compare to what she is spending on "our" living room.

I keep telling her about the quality time I spend with our five-year-old sitting on stools at the workbench, while I build and he cuts up pieces of balsa or punches lightening holes in balsa, or irons Microlight covering on balsa scraps, or whatever I've last done (I don't know what I'll do when the two year old stops taking naps and he wants to sit at the workbench too. Then I'll never get anything done). I tell her this is where I'll talk to them about sex and drugs when they're older (do it, don't, in that order ). Will this help my case?

Mother kindly refers to them as "Your plane thing." or "?expensive toy". I think she's kind of used to it though: my grandfather flew (full and r/c) when she was a kid, and all 3 of her brothers still do a bit of FF/RC... Heck, my dad's MS (Aero, 73 Caltech), BS (Eng., 73 Caltech) couldn't hurt either... Good circumstances...

This of course follows the retirement of "your stupid ******* planes". And the throwing of objects.

I tell her be glad I don't golf! Hundreds for clubs and $60 or so for a couple of rounds ever other weekend or so!

My wife taught our 2-1/2 year old girl to say "crash and burn" everytime I tell them I'm going outside to fly . They think it's real funny. I do most of my repairs/building after 10PM when they go to sleep, she is not resigned.

Really, since I quit golf she is fine with just about anything I do.

When she asked me what I wanted for Xmas, I showed her the Model Air Tech brushless motor/belted gearbox site. She just and said "Ok". As she walked off she was muttering about "big kids".
