The Hawk is a foam wing and plastic fuse. 30 inch wing span. I got inspired by this thread and am building a scratch build racer of wood simalar to the ones on this forum. balsa with fiberglass cover. Won't be ready for sat , but if you guys continue racing ,maybe it will be ready for the next one.

I wish I could join the fun but time has not permitted me to throw a plane together (more like scrounge up a power system). I've been throwing magnets all week on my Foamie project so rebuilding every night. Either way, I'll be out calling for Pdawg and I can help in any other way you may need. I do have a couple hard hats so I can bring those as well. You guys have flags too, right? I have a few colors in my stock pile.

Troy,

Thanks, we could really use your help! Actually, we do need some flags and pylon judges. I heard that the T-6 race is also using the speed 400 course. If thats true then maybe we can borrow their flags?

If this is to be run the same way we do the speed 400's here in SAN, it would be timed start from toss.

Flying starts for man-on-man races are actually more difficult IMHO.

Yep..you get a countdown and everybody launches on "Launch!" The planes are spread apart pretty good and unless your launcher/caller throws across the grain of traffic, there are very few incidents at launch. More often it's usually somebody does a twisty and/or girlie toss and the plane splats in front of them. Go for 10 laps and finish is once you pass #3 pylon. It'll all be explained on the field.
