I can get Microlight at the LHS which I would prefer if it is equivalent to others available, but since I am ordering it ahead I could wait and get something else. I am planning to do full weight monokoat over glass and CF on the pod.
I used Ultracote lite. Great film, and incredibly tough! It's also amazingly light. The translucent red is a very visible color, but the trans yellow is so pale that it's almost clear.

Hope this helps!

I used Ultracote Lite red/yellow on mine. If you want to see, here is a pic. Yes, the yellow is pretty light in color. Very easy to apply and seems strong.

Ultracote Lite Transparent is my personal preference for wing. I use Monokote for the fuselage (for abrasion durability) and either the same Ultracote Lite Transparent or SoLite/Nelsonfilm on the tail feather sheeting.

Assuming you're electronics are okay with using 6volts I use these Cr123a batteries:

These are NOT rechargeable! I put in a set in the early Spring and am able to fly all season. No worries if I wish to go fly at the last minute as I know they are charged and ready to go.

There are a lot of opinions on this one, and if you read through the thread, you'll see them.

As for me, I opted for a 400mah 4-cell Nimh pack from Cheapbattertpacks.com (square configuration).
This is a much simpler option compared to a 2s lipo and regulator, or soldering together two camera batteries.

Three packs come to about $30 with shipping, and combined offer you more flying time than you're likely to use in a day.

YMMV

This is the recommended batteries. Whatever you use the Gambler is designed for a battery pack that weighs between 20-30 grams, or about an ounce. If you go lighter you'll just be adding lead to the nose, so might as well use good old reliable NiMh cells.

I actually use a single LiIon rechargeable cell surplus from Qualcom Cell phones. They've lasted me forever and I will be sorely disappointed when they die of old age.

I have had short life with covering hinges. It hasn't failed suddenly and completely, but they should be inspected frequently. Tape hinges aren't forever either, but they seem to last longer. Both must be replaced from time to time.

I used Blenderm tape for my hinges. This summer will mark three years of use on the original hinges.

my solite should be here on tuesday. I am ready to cover. spring is around the corner and I am pumped to add the Gambler to my fleet! I am sure I will be asking more questions when I start to add the electronics.

I've always used tape hinges. Blenderm is my preferred tape as well.
