*UPDATE#2*Construction/Design Progress on AD EDF Version

Well I have construction underway. So far Right wing half weighs 2.2 oz including the fuse half. V-tail will be used for this version and with 7-720 battery gonna be somewhere around 10oz (fingers crossed) so with 6 oz thrust it's not gonna be a barn burner but with the wing area I have should fly OK!!!???
The fans are easily removed by removing section of covering over fan and the top half of the retainer slides are held on by rare earth magnets and just slide out. Fan then just lifts out. I could have gone for a hatch but didn't want to add the weight. Nose piece of EPP foam will go on after wing 1/2's are joined. Will cover in black Nelson Lite Film.
Comments welcome!

John,
It's a fuse/fan/v-tail version of this.

Nice job Boomer! No question that one will be one of a kind, unless you make some more!

Do you have any 8 cell 720 packs? I think you're going to be pretty disappointed in 7 cells at 10 ounces, but 8 might make it worthwhile. 8 Nicad cells would be too much for the EDFs, but NiMH should be OK. OR you could always try 280's running cut down props

GWS is working on a bigger version of the EDF 50 called the EDF 75. They haven't posted much in the way of info, but it should be just the ticket for projects like this.

I have 8 cell 720's and figure this will be test bed to work out design problems. If it flys OK you know power will go up on next version!!! I have looked at the bigger fans but have seen no release date as yet.

LOL! You haven't even finished this one and you're already thinking about the next 2 or 3

GWS likes to torture us with stuff like this. It could be 6 months or a year before the things hit the street! It looks like they're much bigger though, the motors look like 280's.

You might try Tailerons instead of Vtail.... Just remember they are backwards-on the rudder. May allow a cool looking tail!
