One came into the LHS yesterday.. I thought, from the price, it was a kit..
as an ARF, the price is unbeatable!
Took it home, added a motor on a pylon... eFlite 400 outrunner, APC 9x4.7 prop, Electrifly C25 ESC, Kokam 3c910, 2 Cirrus CS2400BB servos. AUW 29 oz.
Not decided as to whether or not to epoxy the wing joiner in place.

Is that one of Tower Hobbies pylons?

Spoilers?

Are spoilers an option like they are on the Spirit ARFs?

There's no mention of spoilers, nor is there any structure they might be attached to.
There is what appears to be a thru-each-rib hole possibly used for an assembly fixture, aft of the box for the joiner, but it is too small for a servo plug to fit thru, and goes out at least to the poly break.
And it's a skinny wing! Not much room inside for a servo or two.

But it sure does fly good!!! We flew ours yesterday afternoon, no good thermals but a lot of lil bumps. Everytime I get to fly mine I'm amazed!!! Out of our lil group of 3 guys flying, we had 2 Flings, and a Spirit. The Spirit owner loved the Fling and is going to get one. Hmm 3 Flings in the air at one time, that could get interesting!! Oh that one is mine, why did mine just make a left turn, oh thats yours , hmm where is mine. haha

I'm wondering how much the "wing set" might cost.
It is a very pretty wing!
With two, I could epoxy the motor pod and joiner into the one, without having to consider taking that stuff off for TD/sloping.

The wing is $49.99 at Tower- it's in stock and they offer free shipping this month over $50, enter code 593ME at checkout. I flew my electric version again today and loved it. Handles well and with my limited experience I'm not worried about trashing a $500 carbon ship.

Did you chop the nose off for the motor?

What motor and battery pack are you using?

Have you weighed it RTF?

Thanks,

SG

Anyone reading this thread with access to their plane and some flight time - could you check the boom for any cracks, including inside the pod and post how things are holding up?

Thanks Jim. I did quickly scan the thread, but obviously ran right by your post.

Is the order of components starting at the chopped off nose - motor - battery pack - ESC - receiver - servos? I assume your servos ended up under the TE of the wing?

Did you require any lead to balance or just component placement?

I had an Eflite Assent a while back, but I found my old eyes had a time seeing the glider at altitude... small wing - 56" I think.

My current 2M (converted to EP by me) is an Aspire. It flys very well with a Hacker B20, but weighs in at 38 oz. with a 3S TP 2100 pack. Of course it has a 676 sq. in. wing and comes in at 8 oz./sq. ft.

The 2M Fling sounds very interesting for a "park flyer" EP glider.

Mine is laid out this way... I'd do it differently on the next one.. move the elevator servo aft of the ESC.

Thanks SP,

I see your planes have the same funny black markings on the fuse in front of the LE and behind the TE of the wing. Matching marks on the wings I'm sure.

I think I will cut out (or not install) their servo tray. Maybe double up the servos in the wing area... as far back as they will fit and where they help set the proper CG.

and I said I wouldn't buy another inexpensive 2M!

But actually, I have everything I need. Only need to purchase the plane... that's not too expensive.
