Any Aussies taking photos or video from their planes. Love to hear about it as it seems mostly U.S. guys in the dedicayted forum.

Funnily enough, I bumped into a guy some 20 years ago, who was using a senior Telemaster type plane, which had huge balloon tyres. He was having a putzing around flight, and even handed me the controls based purely on my interest (mind you, he made sure it had plenty of height first!).

He was using his plane to take aerial photos of people's houses, and reckoned that he was able to pay for his hobby.

I asked him about take-offs & landings, and he just smiled and said he had to watch for overhead wires. He had never bothered with permission from authorities, and had never been questioned about his (dangerous, as far as I was concerned) flying in the thick of suburbs, with only roads to land on.

These days there are so many options available, including e-helis combined with LiPos, brushless motors and digital cameras, that it must be heaps easier to do AP

Just have taken pictures from our open day sponsored by Model Engines. Was my first try with digital camera. Due to forum rules I can only point you in the right direction.

Great video. I spend a lot of time over on the U.S Aerial photography Thread. I've recently ordered an "EDVR 5 in 1" from England as I couldn't get them here and it arrived yesterday! So as soon as I can mount it to my plane I'll be posting video as well.

Have been experimenting with Aerial Photography over the last couple of years. Ended up making a dedicated AP flying wing with a forward facing camera and have had a lot of fun with it.

I've been APing for a while - haven't flown my SS AP since January though (busy, etc etc).

There are a few Aussie APers... Angry Koala was one of the first Aussies to show his AP shots on rcgroups (that I noticed). Moocowfish is another one, and jpol has a Mountain Models Magpie AP.

I live in Canberra and have been thinking on and off about getting into AP. But don't have a clue as too where to start.

What kinds of equipments are you using and where do you get them from?

Would there be relatively cheap options to start with? For instance the stuff on ebay?

Hows this for example?

Sorry Sim69.. these are with a Pentax Optio 4.0MP... twice the resolution and well worth the upgradeitis.

Still use the Jazz for video - excellent AP camera.

G'day GOK... I've just moved to Gilmore - are you on the south side?

I'd be wary of those sort of CCDs from HK...
