converting TF Giant p-51 ARF

We are almost ready with the Mustang now. Everyhing went very well and it looks very nice, what do you think?

Actro 60-175, RASA 26" 15 prop, later 24" 4-blade from Soloprops, Robarts, scale cockpit from Dbalsa. Going to try to cut open the canopy, any suggestions would be nice (sliding canopy)

Fantastic Looking

Great work,... the cockpit looks great. I'm working on my TF Corsair (60 sized) conversion now.

What ESC and Batteries are you using? Can you show some inside photos of the radio gear and battery placement?

Looks great,.. happy flying!

Really nice maxi!! I too have the same motor and will go on an 87" Yak I'll be using a 12S on mine and e-Mejzlik 26-15 as recommended by jocke, I guess you should know him as he too is Swedish, well I think... Unfortunately I already bought a castle Creations HV110, unfortunate, because the new 120 Actro is out and this one should be perfect for our motor and batteries...
Regards,
Homero

inside pics

We are using 10s2p Polyquest 4000 mah for power. Here are some pics from the inside. Yes I know Jocke very well, I bought this motor from him. I have used it in a Wild Hare 28% extra 300 special, which he converted for me.

Hello maxi, how did the system performed on the Wild Hare Extra? I am supposing you had the same propeller and batteries did you not? I am still saving for my lipos on my big project, well for Kokam to come out with the new 4200mah single lipo.
On your actual setup do you have 4000mahs total or 8000?

we used 4 5s packs

each pack 4000mah, wired to 10s2p giving us 8000mah. We used different props but this 26"15 was the best. Very good performance.
You can see the extra on film here. Scroll down the page and you will find "extra film actro 60-175 11mb.

This is a very nice conversion, im going to Maxi today to see it

Here are a pic of the 4x24" scale soloprop we tested on the Extra, it worket very well, prop is havy and large but still the actro had enougt torq to spinn it to give aerobatic performance on the Extra, i realy like the saound and looks of that prop, will be outstanding with it mounted on the Mustang !

Curious to see how the TF P-51 flew. I just picked up one of these kits today, now looking for a suitable motor for it. I have an Axi 5330/18 I could use but always looking for options.

Where did you get that 4 bladed prop? It looks perfect for a Mustang!

we are going to maiden any day now..

and I will tell you guys how it works.
The 4-bladed prop comes from Soloprops. It is a P-51 style prop.

You can take a look on their website.

Dying for news!

Maxi, I'm dying for news of your maiden flight! I've converted the same TF Giant P-51 but I'm still working on the retracts and dialing in the servos. I can't wait to hear of your experience in the air, particularly with your 4 bladed prop.

Maiden is in a few days now..

We took the P-51 to a model airshow last weekend. That is why we have not maiden yet. I will give you a full report with pics and maybe a video as well. We are going with the 2-bladed prop first to check the cg and the flight caracteristic, then we will change to the 4-bladed prop.

We are also going o maiden a KMP B-25 with 2 Hyperion 4025-12 and 14"8 Varioprops.

Tell you guys all about it

Which motor are you using?

maxi
Great job on the canopy, makes it look that much better. That's a nice looking B-25 also, wouldn't mind getting one of those later too. Just got my VQ A-26 so that'll be my next bird up.
