All the pieces cut out and test fitted together.

Any suggestions on how best to attach landing gear?

Could sandwich it between 2 pcs plywood behind motor making a double firewall, or cut a slot just ahead of ail servo and mount gear to plywood in the slot...then reinforce the area.

It's currently sitting right at 95 grams, with very nearly everything in place. I still need to add elevator and rudder pushrods and possibly landing gear.

Very nice build Mclarkson. What motor/power setup are you using?
Look forward to maiden results.

I am using the brick / motor / servos salvaged from an E-flite UMX Gee Bee. AUW on the Gee Bee is 100 grams, so I'm hoping I'll be good to go. With the added bonus of 3-axis gyros!

My big concern at the moment is the quad ailerons. I'm not sure the little Gee Bee servos will be happy pushing so much surface around. For the first flights, at least, I'm just going with ailerons on the lower wing.

I put landing gear on it. I wanted to keep it as light as possible.

I took a tongue depressor/ craft stick and cut it in thirds, keeping the outer two thirds. I punched one set of holes and two sets of slits through both bits, then colored them with a marker and epoxied them onto both sides of the bottom fuse.

Bent landing gear out of very thin piano wire. (0.022 maybe?) The wire goes thru the hole in the front of the wood brace, then folds back across the brace. Then I run a zip tie thru the two slits and around the wire to hold the wire to the wood brace at the back. The wheels are some very light (.12 gram?) little wheels I had around. They're just held on by bends in the wire (which I'll clip off a bit.)

The gear turned out to be too thin and floppy so I added another zip tie just below the wood brace, to add tension to the landing gear legs. It's bouncy, but seems to work.

The rear is just a skid, made from a leftover GWS control horn.

AUW with gear: 105 grams.

Well, it more-or-less flies. I had to wait for the rain to stop. At that point, the wind was blowing 12MPH or so and, man, this plane would NOT penetrate at ALL.

I may have to go with a 1S and bigger prop.

//edit: Here's the video of the maiden.

Thats pretty much it. Ailerons are useless on curved wings. but without diehedral, they are necessary...you know? I havent used my hotrod Bipie for a long time
