Thanks Sonny. I really like your yellow and white scheme. I'd love to fly the Cumulus against your Playboy. The Gas powered LMR competition this year was won by a big Playboy. That design sure is hard to beat! Two years ago the electric winner was a micro sized Playboy. Our club separates the two out due to the performance differences. I bet yours is really something in the air.

Thanks, yeah it draws attention in the air; a real floater. I would love to find a SAM group nearby & try an LMR competiton. I flew the Playboy at a couple of different RC sport club "open house" fly-ins this year and she was the only "old-timer" at both events, so drew a lot of attention. Wouldn't a formation fly-by with your Cumulus and my Playboy be a sight to behold? If I ever get to Colorado I'll look you up; do the same if you get out to the left coast. Good air,

Sonny

I managed to maiden the Scarab today and as expected it flies really well. It has to be pionted straight into wind with a friend to hold the wing tip, after applying the throttle it is up in the air within 10 ' . It maintains level flight with a fast idle and full power from the OS 70 sends it almost verticall. On the landings it tends to tip onto one wingtip when the lift is lost from the wings (but I can put up with that!). It was a little breezy so maybe in calmer conditions it will stay horizontal once landed.
Here are a few snaps of it flying..my friend made a video of the second flight, when I get chance later I will upload it.

Regards Rich

Rich, very nice flight. On a calm day you will have no problems tipping. OK, add the Scarab to my want list! What plan did you build from?

The Scarab has about 3 degrees of down thrust. It is an enlarged Albert Hatful design and was built from a Paul Howkins plan. Weather here today is poor so its into the shed for some more building (subject to knocking off a few of those jobs she has got for me!)

Thanks for the kind comments
