Well after posting last night I got off my butt and made one. Took about 2 hr start to finish. Used a 18T gobrushless, with a 5X5, and later a 6X4 both worked great. Maidened this morning one toss and it was on its way strait climbout very little trim needed. I don't have unlimited vert but got plenty of thrust. I flew it later after work too and it was very windy! The wind cast said 12 to 20mph! It still flew great. I also can fly it on a 2 cell. Max amp draw is about 6A on a 3 cell TP1300, and 4.8A on 2 cell 2100. Will post pic's soon and should have a video tomarrow.

guess i need a 5x5.. 4x4 wouldnt do it.. i do have a 6 something.. might try that until i get to the lhs

Yep, the fact that these fly great in just about any wind you can throw at them is the best part of all. Glad to hear the 18 turn worked out well. When I run the 6x4 on mine I also get a ton of thrust. I still found the 5x5 was the best all around set up.

The 23ga should work great for the motor, just be careful not to chip the green stuff off the stator. You might want to order an extra stator. I have two that are beyond use.

I have checked and the Lowes store will not order me any, same for Homedepot. I'll have to start cutting wing cores and invest in some blue paint.

You know you can dip the stator in some thin paint to recover it. Alos one guy on here wrapped his stator with a plactic bag then wound it. He didn't get a ton of winds but it worked!

New paint job...I know its not great but I have to have bright colors but I can't see very well.

BTW Thanks for this thread this is my first wing that actually flew worth a crap. I tried a hobbypeople "Wild wing" and it was junk. Only flew 2 twice super twitchy and was only flyable super nose heavy.

I run my wing with a j-250,4-4 prop and 7.4 1250 batt. IT flies great. Had to bring it down to lube the bearings. It was starting to shoot sparkes.

I am going to make a couple of wings 1/2 size with j-250 motors and 4-2.5 props.They should really haul!

i have a couple 250 but no brushed controller. i tried the 4x4 with no luck on the cdrom 2s. does the 250 spin that much better than a 15t brushless? maybe i just have the wrong 4x4 (its black) im sure this 7x5 apc will do it but thought it might be a bit over kill.. im really looking for a floater atm nothing fast yet

if I'm reading you right...

the 15 turn should be great, the 2 cell would turn a 7x5 just fine and if you keep it light, it may just work. You could always cut it down a bit too. A 3 cell is ideal with a 5x5.

a 4x4 on a j250 might be a little hot unless you keep it to 2 cells. a 4x2.5 would probably be better.

well i have 2s800 and a 2s 2100.. guess i was thinking a brushless would out do a brushed anytime but with the 4x4 and 2s800 it couldnt stay up. unless im missing a setting on the tp 10amp esc to spin faster.. my next step is to get a 3s1000 or 1200 but hope to try the 7x5 on 2s 800 if the rain holds off in the am. thanks again

mohillbilly I'm glad you got it up and flying. It's really a great wing. Stufine what scottflight said about props is a good selection for you motor. That should work.

Try the 7X5 on the 2 cell. On the 3 cell you want the 4X4. Prop UP for less cells, down for more cells. I flew mine on 2 cell with a 6X4

yup it flies well im new to flying and did well.. cant say same for my buddy..lol used the 7x5 sure glad it flew.. was wandering if i should give up... guess it was prop size all along. its still pretty fast with a 2cell flying in a ball field lined with trees.. still fun as hell! My next one i can paint and fly myself and not loan out withou fear of a crushing nose. this one still flies but its about 2" shorter in the nose.. hehe i also need to figure out my rates.. that was hard to control when set to high with max travel

As far as your rates go if you have a computer raido then just limit you end points or use dual rates set from 50 to 70%. If you just have a standard raido then you just move the control rods to the inside hole on the servo arm and/or then outside hole on the control horn.

Ok here is a quick vid of mine, and a crash of an alley cat in the back ground :P AnyhowI noticed that mine is not the best at gliding like others have said. It might be the cg is still a bit forward but its not a biggie. Mine is 10oz. RTF and on a 3 cell 1300mah pack my motor only pulls 5A.
