I'm around 13 ounces with the 1050 3s lipo. Man if I came in at under 11 ounces this wing would be a rocket! I telling you the glide rate is unbelievable. The next change is that I'll adjust the reflex down about another 1/8th of an inch and see if the speed will increase.

Man 13oz ,11oz I wish mine weighed that much. My wing weighs in at a hefty 16oz. I think all the extra weight comes from the motor and servos. I had to add about .5oz of lead to the nose to get to balance at 7". Were can I get a decent CDR motor? Besides taken my tower apart. My wife would kill me!

Best thing I've found is to just get a kit and start winding. Check out www.strongrcmotors.com www.slofly.com www.gobrushless.com . Get some 26,24 and 23 gauge wire and your set. There is a little trick in helping you to get your cg right without adding weight. Move the motor up about an inch and it will help you to get the cg right.

Wow guys, 13 and 16 oz. A bit portly. But the CDR motor is a big reason why mine is so light, it's like 24g. Also, I don't do much strengthening at all.

Bass is right on, those are great places to find a cdr motor. I got mine at slofly a long time ago, it's Lensrc motor. He has stopped production and sales. But you can definitely wind your own. Be mindful of the mounting options as the cheapest of the kits are tough to mount (not to mention tough to get the shaft in straight), I'd recommend a complete motor or one that has the shaft already pressed in....unless you have a drill press. Bass is right about the balancing trick too, just move that motor cutout up a bit and it'll take off that .5 oz in the nose.

Good stuff fellas, I guess this all means that I could put a 2100 on it and fly around for almost an hour!

One more thing, bass mentioned moving reflex down a bit, this requires moving the cg back to compensate and stay at straight and level flight. I think mine ended up having very small reflex...and it is a rocket!

Scottflight I am also going to go ahead and bury my electronics to get a cleaner smoother surface. I usually velcro my esc and rx until I get the cg right before I clean it up. Right now it's a bunch of wires everywhere

Hey is anyone else flying this wing?
Took it out again today and had fun as usual. Tried something different just to see how the wing would fly. After I flew out the first pack, 3s 1050 vampower, I put in a heavy 3s EP 1800 lipo. A difference of about 1.5 ounces. She still flew fine. Only adjustment were to use a little more reflex as I had to mount the battery a little forward. Now I think I need to put a more powerful motor on it as it tops out about 54mph.

Still trying to get mine up. Took it out last night with the lead still on. It took of nice and level only it went slow and landed about 20' away. Did not use full throttle as I didnt want to fry the motor. Last night removed motor and lead reattached the motor using an old stryker mount moved it forward about 3/4 - 1" still tail heavy. Going to try one more time moving motor if that does not work I will get a different one. Will probally get some sort of outrunner. Any ideas? I dont know about CDR motors and dont trust my skills enough to build one.
JUst checked out Gobrushless is this to big?

I didn't trust my skills at building one at first. Now I don't mind winding one. That motor you linked to would work but try this link and try to match up the motor with how much your wing weighs. I have the custom cdr single cool wind and it does great.

edit
here is the link to the main page. If you email morph he could possibly wind you one to fit your wing.

And here is the link to the rcgroup thread on their motors

Hey guys,

Just got back from the mountains, little getaway for the weekend, and yes, I was flying the wing at about 8000 ft. It did great, flew two packs out on it in some pretty varied and gusty wind. All good.

Waterboy, I think the motor you linked to looks like it would kick hind quarters with this wing. That seems like a good way to go if you don't want to build your own. The 6x4 should work ok with that one. 18 oz. of thrust will really haul.

Bass, how'd the buried electronics work out? 54mph seems pretty great. I'm not sure how fast mine goes, but it's enough to keep me on my toes for sure.

Here is a quick video I tried to get a little while ago. Not the best video but I'll get another one later this week. My wife and daughter had a hard time with the zoom
