Mine is 26 gauge newbie wire from GB. 16T 5X5 APC @ 6A. This is the secound wind for this motor I found out that the first time I built it I had the front BB too far back and it was rubbing on the brass sleeve. It ground it down over time and then shorted the windings. I (had) a tight little 18mm that had the same issue it was 24T 32 gauge wire, 6X4 @ 10A till it cooked. I got a whole box of great motors waiting to be wound. I need to find some TINY BB for the 18mm before I rewind it.

Do you happen to have an rpm reading for that motor?

Salmon-Run:

If your into building motor kits, get a VL from www.aircraft-world.com. There's a ton of info on which wire and wind here on the Zone. It's a very easy motor to build, inexpensive and you can make it do what ever you want. Wind it for 2S, 3S and for how many amps your batteries will put out. Best of all, it only weighs in at 50 grams.

For this project I have 2 strands of 26 gauge with 9 turns. It draws 9.5 amps at 9.3 volts and puts out 90 watts. I'm using 3S 800 20C lipos. If you are using smaller batteries, just add more winds to get the amps down.

My Bluecor wing ended up with a wing span of 28 1/2" and weighs a tad under 11 ounces, so at 2.1 Sq. Ft. with a loading of under 5 ounces per square feet and 90 watts, it should scream like a Banchee. And, that the name I'll paint on it before it's maiden this weekend.

Hope this helps; Frank

Maidened my wing today and it flew out of my hand like it was on rails. Unlimited vertical and I guesstimate it hits about 70 MPH on a diving pass. Slows to a crawl with no bad habits. Loads of fun. Next is chucking it off a slope.

Thanks to scottflight for this great build thread.

Another fantastic, fast, fun foamy.

Ok here is my latest build on this thread same wing design BUT out of 6mm EPP. Hollow pretty much air tight (more or less) NO spar, it turned out pretty thick on the airfoil but its nice and round so should work fine. Its very smooth for EPP I just need to make the eleverons for it tonight, still need to weigh it out too. I hope to fly it tomorrow morning.

On the epp wing, is it the picture or does the left wing look a little bit lower than the right? I had that problem on my other wing and it would dip that left wing hard to the point it wasn't much fun to fly. Made it even and it flew great after the fix.

Its more the pic than anything, its a tad off but not anywere as bad as the pic makes it look. My big 42" was off too but after a little trim work it still flew great.

What motor did you use on the 42. And where is the cog. I just finished my standerd wing with two j250 motors, 20amp esc,7 cell 1050 nm-hi with a 1/2 oz of lead to balance. TO WINDY to fly today. Hope to go out tomarrow and see how she works.

for the motor I used a geared 300 3 to 1, on 2 cells it flew and 3 was good but toasted the motor. So I went to a brushless setup with a geared 3200Kv inrunner with a 10X6 @ 22A unlimited anything. I'm sure anything brushless would work like a BP-21 or better. I'll have to see what my CG is I'll edit the frist post to include it.

Mo I'm really liking that EPP wing. Might have to place an order with Steve@slofly.com for some EPP. Is that where you got your epp from? How did the maiden go?

Yep that's were I got mine. I got the mix of 3 black and 4 white sheets 4mm to 6mm for $15 and if you order $15 worth you can get a floam only plane kits for a penny! So you get lots of great foam (very smooth) and a plane for $20 ww shipping! Heck of a deal!

Anyways maiden went great. The thing really floats along, The motor is crap that I had on it and way under powered but still flew nice. The thinker airfoil allowed it to really slow down on the landing. I think it needs a bit thicker eleverons because of the thicker airfoil there was not alot of movment compaired to my thin one. It did fly well no reall trim other than to dial in the CG and reflex. Rolls, loops, invert NP. I love the landing on two accounts: 1 - the thicker foil makes so I didn't need a skid so it would touch down and slid to a stop nice and smooth. 2 - It would bounce! lol came in and fluffed it early and it bounced 2 or 3 times while skiding it was funny. It was very smooth the whole flight I guess its the airfoil that helps here. I just need to get a diffrent motor and I'll be set.

Thanks for the info Mo. What motor did you use? You said you didn't use a spar and still came out with a nice airfoil!
