Anyone seen the Mini A-10 made by K&A?

I'm an experienced r/c'er mostly with gas models. I am interested in getting into the EDF type of models. Has anyone seen this plane by K&A? I've found it on another website for sale for $99.00 including the two fan units. Is it a relatively stable flyer? How does it build? Any other comments on this EDF would be greatly appreciated. Heres a pic of what I'm talking about.

The Mini A-10 is from Electric Jet Factory. THe Micro A-10 is available from two manufactures K&A or Dare. Go to ElectricJetFactory.com for information on their Mini A-10. They have two versions a balsa and foam kit also a composite version. This plane is bigger than the K&A and the Dare kit. It uses EDF 400 or WeMoTec Mini fan units.

I mean the model made by K&A. It was designed for the KP-44 fans.

As BRuff says, the Mini A-10 is from Robert Wagoner at the Electric Jet Factory.

I built mine pretty much stock, but BRuff's flew VERY nicely on two small Astroflight brushless & MF480's. Rog'd with a steerable LG I believe.

I'd like to try one of these, too. The fans are available in the UK and Chris Golds has made a B-52 using eight of them!

I think the K&A model looks very nice, and should not be too frantic to fly.

The K&A kit has more plactic parts and a foam wing. The Dare kit is all wood. Also do a search on the KP fan units. The motor has some durablity issues.

The motors are designed to run at only 4.8V. If you've got two, the usual arrangement is to wire them in series with an 8-cell pack, which simplifies the wiring and reduces the current requirement for the ESC.

Putting them in parallel (as one would normally do) will fry them!

I just bought an A10 from k&a with no fans for about $60.00. They removed it from the web sight because the fans were discontinued.

I thought the KP44's were 50mm? I'm probably just confused but how were you guys putting a minifan into that sized nacelles? Were they oversized/not scale?

Justin

EDIT: Just realized this thread is over 5 years old. Good score on that $60 A-10.

I would go witht he bigger one from EJF or GWS's. I have the Dare and the RBC and they go well on my Astro Micro fans, but its just such small plane and not very scale. Quite portly for such a small plane too.

Justin,

The KP44's are 44mm - which is why they are called...

I have two with std. motors sat in my cupboard doing nothing since I progressed to more powerful 'stuff'...

Wired together in series they produce 7oz of thrust on 8-cell Kan 1050 batteries - and will propel a 16oz model quite nicely.
As long as it is not 'portly'
One day...

Keven.
