I have been kicking around several projects for the season but I have settled on this one....for now

.

The model will be 65.5 inches long with a span of about 43.75 inches. This is the same scale as my F/A-18E and F2H Banshee model (1/11.67" scale).

The planned power system will be twin DS51 with the Mega 22/30/3 and two 8S1P packs. The model will have rotating retracts for the same reason the full scale has them.

Since I actually started working on it I figured I'd share some pictures. The nose section is foam that will be sheeted and then most foam removed and glassed with the rest of the model. The rest of the model will be balsa.

You guys do know that the Aggressor Squardron flies F-15s now. I guess they needed something for the Raptor to chase around

So far they have a brown and tan, a blue and light blue and a grey and light grey.

Heh, I'm in Vegas and have not seen that F-15 color scheme before, but then by the time I see jets departing Nellis at the flying field, they are up about 8000 feet or so. I didn't see that at the airshow back in November, maybe it's newer or they didn't display it. Looks nice though, the plane jane grey gets old after a while.

Can't wait to see it fly Kevin.

Ed,
They didn't "stand up" until Jan 06'. The pictures of the first aircraft started hitting certain forums around later Dec and they were posted be the enlisted people.

Hello Kevin,
very nice project.

My favorite motor now is the 22/30/3E (1050 U/V). With that motor you can take 10S1P (4800) for both motors and it can handle more Watts than the 30/3. I mine around ~1300W each. That is very fine :-)))).

The rest of the model will be balsa. Images View all Images in thread Views: 136 Using a plastic model and proper lighting I mark the initial sanding marks based on reflections. Views: 92 A full size copy of the nose section is attached to a 4" block of foam. It is cut out and sanded to shape. Views: 148 More sanding is clearly needed but I will wait until the aft fuselage is ready, then it will receive its final "mating" sanding. Views: 102 Views: 176 The nose section next to the Super Hornet.
