Josh,
This charger won't work on the 830mah packs from Allelectronics. The packs from Allelectronics (txbat401) are 7.2volt 830mah and are for the Qualcomm PDQ phones. The Qphone is entirely different, and uses a 3.6 volt battery. Jeff |

Jeff:
I picked some of these up, but now can't find a charger that will work that I can afford. Any suggestions?? Thanks

You can charge a two cell pack of Qualcomm Lithium Ion 830mAh cells (CGR17500) using this charger from www.flyifo.com for $27.

Greg,
The lithium ion polymer cells they sell at IFO do they have different characteristics than the quallcomms? Like a better discharge rate? Al |

Al,
I'm not sure if the discharge rate is different or not. The Lithium-Ion Polymer (LiPoly) 2-cell pack is lighter and has greater duration than the Qualcomms but is much more expensive. The discharge rate is about 4amps. Assuming the discharge rate is similar, the expense difference outweighs the weight and capacity difference. I'm trying both since they will work on the same charger so i'll report back in a few weeks. Regards. |

After reading Allan Wright's article on the E-Zone called Converting Qualcomm cell phone batteries..., it appears that the Qualcomms have a lower discharge rate of about 2amps.

The biggest plus about the poly's is, as I understand it, they want explode, they just puff up.

Another advantage of the LiPoly cells over Lithium Ion is the current delivering capability. The 4amp delivery from the cells at flyifo.com can be used on Speed 280 applications also.
The Qualcomm cells are limited to GWS IPS (or similar) applications. |
