Contact Zipper if you want it. I'll pass it on to anyone at Soar Utah that he approves, or I'll ship it after I get home from a two week California vacation that we're heading out on immediately after Soar Utah.

Come fly here some time! Yes, she does take good photos. She took some great ones at Soar Utah 2010 when she was almost 7.

Cory happened to stop by Point Fermin today while we were flying, and he had The Dom in his car. I finally got to fly it and add my name to the log book! Awesome!

I hope we didn't keep you too long Cory, and I hope you got to the tidepools in time.

Glad I ran into you guys! That was fun! I feel like a pilgrim who finally made the trek to Mecca. I've wanted to fly Fermin ever since I first heard of it over six years ago. I'll post photos when I get home in a couple of weeks. It seems that I-Phones aren't compatible with this web site.

We made it down to Little Corona del Mar beach just after max low tide, and had a great time. Then we had a late dinner with a cousin I haven't seen since 1984. It's been a good day!

Not free, but well worth it. I almost prefer reading these forums on the iPhone using Tapatalk over reading them on my laptop. Much easier to keep track of the threads your following.

P.S. Cory, I can't believe you were at Fermin this week and didn't warn me I'd have dropped by just to say hi.

I was just around the corner from little corona at lunch yesterday, checking on a job. One cove closer to the harbor. If I had finished work early yesterday, I was going to Fermin to meet up with you guys. Next time.

So did the Dom make the Soar Utah? Lots of pictures in the Soar Utah thread, but not a single one of the Dom

Yeah, it was there for Friday and Saturday. I left directly from Soar Utah on a two week vacation with the family to Southern California. I took the Dom and as noted above flew it with a couple of guys at Fermin. We've only been home since Sunday. I'll get a report and some photos up soon, though I don't think I took very many at Soar Utah this year.

Awesome. Sorry I wasn't putting the two together, I thought Soar Utah was after your SoCal trip.

At Soar Utah, I attended on Friday and Saturday. The weather wasn't ideal, but it was fun. Saturday on the South side of Point of the Mountain we had intermittent rain, sometimes 5 minutes, a half hour or an hour of rain, then a half hour or hour of flying, then repeat. Pilots of the Dom were myself, Brian Courtice, Joe Chovan (Wind Junkie), Mike Bailey (Motorhead), Ted Fraughton (paramntn), and Frank Slaughter (Frank S.). I had intended to put the Dom, transmitter, log book, and donation can out by the lip of the hill with a sign saying to go ahead and fly it, no need to ask permission. With the intermittent rain I ended up keeping it right behind my truck so it was easier to get it into cover. I think that limited the number of pilots who had the opportunity to fly it. Only Joe, Mike and I signed the log book, so if anyone else flew it, sorry I left you out. Wish I'd taken more photos.

Brian had first flown the Dom in Hawaii waaaaay back in Dec. of 2005. It's amazing how long this plane has been going! Are there any plans to donate it to the AMA museum? That idea was brought up or agreed with by everyone who flew it.

We left Soar Utah and headed down to the LA area for a two week family vacation, among other things to take the kids to Disneyland for the first time. Tues. Sept 4th we toured the battleship USS Iowa in LA harbor. We were in a rush to get back down to the Laguna Beach area to see some tide pools at low tide and then meet a cousin that I hadn't seen since 1984. We drove up to the park at Fermin just to let the kids stretch their legs and eat a quick sandwich only because I knew there was a park there. I honestly didn't think that anyone would be flying there since it was a Tuesday and the winds weren't very strong. Surprise! There were three guys flying there. My wife still thinks I had a devious plan, but I honestly wasn't intending to fly Fermin because time was so short. But since the guys were flying, twist my arm, I just had to do it. I flew first. I've dreamed of flying this site since I first heard about it about 7 years ago. My grandma lived in San Pedro and an aunt was in Rancho Palos Verdes until a couple years ago. I just haven't been back there to visit since 1999, and didn't fly RC when I left CA in 1978. The wind was light/moderate, but the plane flew great. Unfortunately I did one half pipe a little too close to the rim, got blown back over the lip, stalled the plane, and aimed the inevitable crash for the LZ across the road. So I've flown Fermin but really haven't landed there. Lars Berg flew next and then Keith Peevyhouse. Total flight time was only about 25 minutes because we really needed to get going. It was great to fly with those guys and great to finally fly Fermin!

Awesome Cory, truly awesome. I wish I had gone down with my Friend cityevader. I would have love to have flown the Dom! Let me know when you will be headed back up to San Jose/Fremont area, so I can get my chance! Maybe at Coyote Hills?

Thanks, keep up the great work!
