Hmm. When you think about it, this design does lend itself to a whole new line of creative potential! Why stop with paint? I see it! Custom carved Thorns! Not just for Vikings anymore!

You can shape the nose to whatever you like....or you can make it resemble a french tickler as Lavawing demonstrated.

I think that's a Norse tickler.

Question about incidence on my Thorn:

Is the tail incidence supposed to be zero degrees relative to the wing?

I think I'll call mine the "Viking edition" LOL!!!!!!

Speaking of carving..... Building this thing took me back to my younger days camping trips and carving stuff with a swiss-army knife...

Thuren: Holy that looks good. Hope it is visibile enough in the air for you as I like a little more contrast. Pretty, pretty, pretty!

The weights of the wood vary quite a bit, so I'm not surprised at all. Don't worry about the weight though. I'm sure you have seen Daemon's video on the Colorado Thorns thread.

Thanks Andreas!!

U DA MAN!!!

It's coming out really nice... I'll get some glam shots soon if you want them for your site...

Yeah I'm not worried about the weight... More energy!!

Contrast should great... White in black makes an awesome "contrast" for the bottom and black tips is allways an eye catcher on the top. If anything I'm worried about the leading edge not showing up if I dip low to the ground coming at me...

Oh....... wait till you see the nose... I have a killer idea.....

Paint with a design, and then paint on a coat of finishing resin... After it dries I'll sand and buff to a mirror surface. If I'm going to need nose weight anyway I may as well make an armor shell for it...

Well, got a little carried away with the epoxy resin.... THIS is the finish I was going for. Took 1.1 ounces of resin painted on(top and bottom) and a little bit got wet sanded off..... 400 wetsand, 600 wetsand, 1 hour of elbowgrease with the polish, and a coat of carnuba wax.. CHINY!!!!

Is is glass? Is it carbon? Nope, it's wooooooooooood!!
