From what I can see that looks exciting, especially considering the wind..

The krylon spray can latex paint may work for painting it green, but you'd want to test how it sticks to the polycrylic on there already. Cleaning the oil is the hard part most likely. It may work out better scale wise if the green paint barely sticks I read in the scale forum that the green paint on the japanese planes didn't stik worth a flip and they all looked rough with the paint flaking.

Yikes! I just tested the krylon white latex spray on some foam and let it dry for a day.

It instantly failed with 25% nitro fuel on it, the paint came off on my finger.
Maybe it takes more than a 24 hrs to dry all the way or something. Most paints take weeks before they can stand solvent exposure, to be fair.

But still, my hope that one could squirt a coat of the krylon latex on before bed and be flying a glow powered foamie the next morning is in vain it appears.

Sick as a dog today, had alot of homework I had to turn in so I woke up about midnight and worked all frikkin' day, turned it all in, and started my way back home. Decided to stop at Wal-Mart on the way home and pick up some Krylon Fusion, dark green. Got home, wiped the plane down, and started spraying. Usually I keep the can very far away, but it was very windy and I was impatient and got too close and sprayed it. It was a big dark spot on the "dust coat" layer I was working on, so I figured it would be impossible to match later so now I had to paint the whole plane that dark. I don't know if I had to, but I wouldn't if I knew then what I know now

Basically, keep the can away from the foam. I knew better, just got in a hurry. It doesn't look like it will hurt the flyability, but it does look sorta Freddy Kruger. You'll notice my fine use of paper towels shoved into the canopy to block the paint, and the use of the cowl to prevent spray paint from getting on the engine (PRIORITIES, MAN!).

At least when the wind dies and we shoot video, you'll actually be able to see it =/

A little of the lightweight drywall spackle in the solvent rash and a more careful spray on a less windy day and you'll be looking less freddy kruger in no time!

But you may want wait until you crash a couple of times first, and fix the solvent blemish during a post crash overhaul..

Months later, was finally able to shoot some video yesterday. Edited all the junk out of it today and shortened it to 13MB. Will upload it, so I guess you MIGHT be able to see the video today. Dialup, and all that..... Wish me luck.

GWS Me109 & AP .061

Hi!

I also converted 2 of my GWS warbirds (Me109, F4U) to glow. This planes are powered by AP .061 Wasp engines and APC 6x3 props. Here is a short video of my Messerschmidth (the engine stoped by landing, so I had to land the machine in the grass) :

I will try to download later tonight, will take me forever right now. If it's anything like the zero (which I expect the 109, at least, to be faster and less twitchy than the Zero) then they are both alot of fun.

I just finished watchin the video, the glow 109 looks like FUN! I have both (my 109 is electric) and I noticed alot of similarities between the Zero and 109 wings. I think they would have very similar performance to each other, if both are glow.
