Lee, I'm not a radar gun specialist, but I'm pretty sure the cheap ones will have a hard time picking up rc planes. My brother has a gun he bought to measure his kid's pitching speed and he had to upgrade into the $400 - $500 range to get one that would pick up a baseball when standing behind the backstop. JonR has a real nice one also... maybe he'll offer an opinion.

We've borrowed one of these before and it has worked. Wade in SLC has one. We were able to pick up Todd's WW in mid 90s several times in a row. I'm sure a WW in profile is a pretty small target. It gave a reading every time we were close. I'll PM Wade and see if he has had any trouble.

nate, eric,

6:30 seems to be the earliest that I can make it on Thursday. Would that be a good time for you guys?

Anyone else want to come??

Could you link a google map of the park or post some directions?

Looking forward to flying.

6:30pm could work for me. I'll bring my newly acquired speed gun if anyone is interested in checking speeds. I'll post directions and a picture here too. Barnes Park in Kaysville is probably the best but Kaysvill Junior high school is a close second. It has one soccer field to the east and up about 20feet higher and then the evivalent of 4 soccer fields below. But it does have some bigger trees that might like to grab planes.

Both the planes I am bringing are on channel 34. Jeremy & Nate does that work?
I may not be able to make it there until 7pm, but I'll shoot for 6:30.

Great time flying in Kaysville. Thanks for bringing the radar gun Eric. We were new with the gun, but got some results. Clocked a zagi wing @ 76 mph in a 60º powerless dive. The pocket combat wing was able to hold still enough to catch it about 55 mph but we didn't catch it at its fullest speed (that little wing is hard to hold low and still with the feiago brushless motor). Eric's multiplex wing was just under 80 mph, but didn't catch it at its fullest battery capacity. There are still some more things to clock. Come out and see how fast yours is.

None of the pictures are in flight. I have troble flying and taking pictures at the same time. We need another Davis/Weber Fly-in. I also want to get my porky Stryker (30 oz with 4S lipo) on Radar.

I checked out the DATC sod farm. The sprinklers were out and i assume they are always out so the landing strips are east/west. The sprinklers went on while I was there, so I didn't fly. I've found another place just south of the Junior High, which is some Utah Botanical Society land that is mostly weeds.

The Junior high fields are at the north of the picture below Davis Ave. A couple blocks south there is a big open field with two white buildings to the east.

Another good flying site-Centerville

I might have mentioned this place to fly before. It is the field at Centerville junior high school it is about 4 soccer fields. Here is a picture.

I will probably be a Barnes park tonight or tomorrow, if someone wants to hold a RAdar gun for me.

I flew for 20 minutes this afternoon. I'll try and post when I know I'll be there. I still need some one to hold the radar gun on my stryker.

I was helping a buddy move last night and he had a big glow trainer he was getting rid of. Well I never wanted to get into slimers but he offered me a deal I couldnt resist. I now have 2 futaba sky sport radios an "easy2" gas trainer, 3 gas engines including a .40 and an LA 25 OS enginge and all sorts of field gear and a new fear of making toothpicks. Anyone familiar with this stuff want to come out and help me maiden? Maybe over at the Ogden Business Depot?

Also I have put together a foam cutter and Im ordering foam. Anyone want in on a wild wing before I put in my order? I thought we might be able to get more flyers here in the North end if we could have a stock of wild wings without having to travel to orem.
