How about a sternwheeler?

How about a sternwheeled model. Like using a stern wheel instead of a propeller on some models? Like racing boats. Any thoughts on this?

Have you looked at the Dumas Creole Queen kit? John Fryant's Paddlewheels & Props sells plans for various sternwheelers.

'Fix-it',
I'm probably misunderstanding the question, if so, then just never mind this answer.

If you're going to race paddle boats, use a 'splash' shield between paddle wheel and the boat. Rooster tails are impressive but if they 'splatter' into the boat they sort of sink. 'Side-wheelers' would also offer differential motor control and no rudder would mean less drag. And, considering where this is going, I think I'll go take my afternoon nap... then my meds...
