simple Higgins conversion
I am using my kit to build a Higgins built PT.
I know, I know... "the hull is wrong"... but I don't care. It's different...I like different |

iv been looking at the idea of converting mine to a 1970's navy SEAL PBR , the mods would be neat, havent found any good pics, the hulls are similar from what iv found

I'm using a pair of MACK motors as described in this thread. MACK used to produce a power kit for the Lindberg 109, which included two motors and a speed control. The MACK power kit for the Dumas 33" PT109 will work in the Lindberg kit. Here's another link to the Lindberg 109.

Here's a pic of the one my (then) 12 year old son built. I bought it without the motor or hardware at a blue light special at Kmart in 1980 for the princely sum of $0.25.
It's powered by a single Mabuchi 550 size motor and a single stock prop, and it has what looks to be slightly faster than scale speed. The deck hasn't been glued down yet... waiting until we get all the radio details nailed down. I picked up a cheap mechanical speed control that we'll install. Marten |

nice pic, i think i read a thread on it during my searching, im actually thinking about puting a pair of water jet motor systems on it , to operate like the modern PBR Mark V i think the shallow draft would be nice where i go , and the turning would be better i can imagine the rudders in the kit arent to big, has any one use the jets from hobby lobby??
