Couple of questions...

- Should I do any structural mods for 3s? (durability or otherwise)

- 4s is planned, will I run into problems glassing it after its been flying 3s for awhile?

- I wont go past 4s, how far do I have to go with the glass for ~130mph?
(Am I accurate on the expected speed?)
Glassing is optional but will help you in the long run...at the minimum run two carbon tubes...one underneath the fuselage and one in the wings..end to end..My Funjet blog has more details if you are interested..you may have to dig thru the posts to find what you want...

Your batteries may be the only limiting factor...

Sweet setup for Funjet I normally recommend:

Arc 28-47-1.5 or similar
80 amp good esc or 100 amp suppo
good bec (castle or park)
6 X 4 sport prop -- balanced
4S 3850 or any battery capable of delivering 75 amps or more continuous

Good luck !!!

I don't know. I tried this setup recently, and the motor burned. That's with heatsinks and extreme cooling.

That setup has been run by me and others for years..

The #1 reason ARC motors burn is b/c the screws used to secure it touch the windings and short everything. Not saying this is what happened to you but it is likely the case

Yeah, the same thing happened to me before on another ARC. This wasn't the case this time. I bought the motor used, so maybe it had a pre-existing condition(?). It ran fine the first flight, but the second flight it burned out. Definitely wasn't a screw short. I'm not fussed about it since it was a used motor, and if it's a proven setup - great. I'm just relaying what happened to me.

And I mispoke previously - sorry. It wasn't a 6x4 prop. It was a 6x5.5. Maybe that was it?

Live and learn! That said - I don't fly my Funjet much these days, but when I do - I just want it go faster. Even if it's just for one flight.

Any ARC recommendations for 6S? I've got these Zippy 2200 25C 3S packs that are just begging to be run in series. My funjet has already been modified to hold these packs (ran parallel previously). Got all the other business ready to roll - just need a motor.

If you drop the folks at lightflightrc.com and email, they might be able to help out your loss by providing a replacement for 1/2 cost of new motor.

Yeah, they're real good about that. Wonder if I can get a different motor instead. I'll have to shoot them an e-mail.

That's fine, too. Any suggestions on another ARC for 6S FJ goodness?

All healed up. I've been flying my pylon and hotliner ships lately. No need to worry about fingers with those!

Plenty of flights with the FJ after tha accident, but I'm always nervous about tossing it now.

My only ARC 6s suggestion would be the 47-3 turn
5s would be 47-2

both on 6x4 sport
