My MicroDan 2506 2800KV

on 4S 2200 carrying an Eagletree in a FunJet shows 48.5A and 847 watts. You must be pretty hard to impress?

You should go for it!!! You need our permission?

But you need to report back honestly how it really works, hopefully with some ability to quantify other than 'I think it's great'.

FWIW those specs HAVE to be bogus-big surprise there, eh?. It's an 80gm motor they claim 480W. A decent motor will pull about 3W/gm. So maybe a fantastic one will pull 4w/gm? That would put it more in the 240-320W category by rough est.

I'm impressed with the 2200mAh battery pack since it is maintaining 17.46v (4.37v/cell) @ 48.5A.

Is it April 1 already!

I have the 3200 kv model of the motor,

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=8138

and I put it in my FJ, but as I stated a couple of messages ago...I don't like the wires rubbing against the bell of an outrunner...and I would have done some cutting to make it work....plus I had a new ARC 28-47.1.5 sitting in a drawer...so yanked the Turnigy and put in the ARC. Another reason....I can drive a 5-6S with the ARC for over 1000 Watts of power...can't do that with the Turnigy.

However, I did put it in my SpeedWing Dart. Since I can only fit a 3S in the plane anyways...made a good choice. With a 4.5x4 prop, I'm pulling 41Amps and 480 Watts of power...it's throwing that little 13oz bird around at 130+ MPH. And, like you, I have been VERY impressed with the Turnigy motors. Are they ARCs? No. Are they HiMax? No...are they $50-200 each....NO!!! Geez...I've even got one sitting in my Extreme Flight 47.5" Yak-54 and it does a great job! Let's see...the Torque Motor/ESC Combo was $150. I put a Turnigy motor and ESC in it for $60. Let me think.....

Been so impressed with their equipment, I'm going to put Turnigy in a 58" Extreme Flight Extra 300 I got for Christmas....

Hope this helps.

That's what I'm talking about! I'm ordering it for sure, I'll be running a 3 or 4 cell on it. Most likely the 3 cell because I wanna save some weight all around. Thanks for the info.

Well, i've just fitted another new one of these, it didnt even last one battery!!! the first one only lasted for 3flights so after reading on here that they were good i bought the second one. Only using it on 3S so expected them to be better than this. This is the 3rd motor i've had from Hobby City and they've all broken down, the first 2 had the wires break from the windings and this one just stopped without any sign of anything wrong. I'm now convinced that motors from Hobby City are total junk and wont be buying any more..

Robbie, I bought 2 of those motors from Giantcod and they've worked flawlessly but it's important not to stress the wires as you found out!

Spinner?

Hiya guys. Is there any benefit to using a spinner on a Funjet, does it reduce drag / increase thrust?

It certainly wouldn't increase thrust. It likely wouldn't change thrust. It might help a little bit speed wise if you taper the end of the plane to be equal with the spinner. You might see 3-4mph of difference if i had to guess. I wouldn't think it would be worth the trouble. Just another thing to break or get out of balance...

Are you sure you are running 4s? Those numbers don't add up
