Thanks for that and thanks to Rhawk1967 for taking the trouble to do the PDF.

Does anyone know if Multiplex has made any improvements to the Acromaster since it's release?

A question of balance.

Firstly to our USA east coast guys I hope everything goes OK for you with the storms looming over you.

I have just taken delivery of an AM and I am at that stage of determining CoG balance. I am finding that if I put the battery (2200 3S) on the sloping section at the front the AM is nose heavy. If I put the battery on the flat section under the canopy it is tail heavy.

Has anyone else had this problem and if so do you have any pointers?

i used a long piece of velcro up the slope and beyond . like this the battery is very adjustable and at least good enough for the first few flights to figure final cg.

I am dumb.....because my landing/take off strip is a bit rough I put bigger wheels on. This of course is affecting the CoG. I have put 12.5 grams on the tail and I will try this but if the flying is affected too much by the wieght of the wheel and lead I will go back to standard. I am a hack flyer who wobbles about the sky so I am not looking for a competition flyer.

a 1/2 oz wont make much difference in auw, small %. this plane has a wide cg range , i did not like mine nose heavy and moved it back from stock.

My Acromaster arrives tomorrow.

I know it's an oldie by now, but the Acromaster model in my Phoenix simulator is such a blast to fly that I couldn't resist. I've been flying a Multiplex Fun Cub, which I love and intend to keep flying, but it felt like time for something a bit ... wilder?

So with the Fun Cub and Acromaster (plus a couple of gliders) I figure I'll have a good selection of "moods" to choose from at the field.

That's all ... just kind of excited about my new foamie ...

Having a good time with your Acro

You can fly it smooth or wild.
I have a bit overpowered setup and it thumbles like mad.

It also can go slow.

But it is not a rock stable plane at low 3D things.

I have a extreme flight edge now, that is much more stable in slow 3 D things.

but the Acromaster is faster and more aggressive..

Have fun

Thanks for the encouragement Bernd.

This will be my first 3D foamie, so I expect the first couple of flights to be a handful, but I'm getting plenty of pre-flight practice on Phoenix so hopefully I won't destroy it first time out.

Extreme Flight Edge (540T I assume) eh ... ?
Just watched some videos and damn ... looks nice.

Hi FunPilot, what motor/prop are you planning to use in the Acromaster? Keep us posted on progress!

Cheers

Didge,

I'm planning on using a Hyperion HP-ZS3009-20 with the following specs:

* 1100 KV
* 450 watts max. power
* 18~26A typ. current
* 34A max. current
* 98.5g weight

That should work OK with an APC 11x5.5E prop. Hopefully.
(According to Hyperion's test data that should give me 408 watts at 9,540 RPM).

Should have a bit more pull than the standard power pack, but not so much that it's unmanageable or will pull the nose off the plane. Again ... hopefully.

Nice - according to the Drivecalc Simple Prop Calculator, spinning that prop at 9540 rpm will give 1869g thrust - should be adequate, to say the least.

Cheers

I am flying mine on AXI 2820/10 (1200kV) with 60A ESC and 11x5.5.
Plenty of power.

It was my first 3D. I think it's more like a sport plane with 3D ability.
Only problem with going for more power than multiplex is mooing. Any vibration, I mean any will resonate and get multiplied by the fuse.
I made simple fix. I ran square dowel across fuse under motor mount and glue that to the foam and motor mount rails. Its fixed.
Another thing is to watch out for landings.
Plane will not plop down like a true 3D, It likes to have some horizontal speed. Landing gear is pretty soft and wheels catch. Another simple fix. I made one out of thicker than original wire and made legs bowed. Skip the wheel pants or cut away fronts of them.
Its a fun plane and this days its my bad weather beater. Excellent on skis and overcast skies.
