Tord thanks for adding that lot ........I've been going through the flight archives on other topics but hadn't got back to this one, my PC is very slow opening the PDF's so it takes an age to sift the wheat from the chaff so to speak.

Addendum: Seagull - why the arrangement?

Forgot one thing, essential for flying boats: As the wing rotates (increases it's AoA independent of the fuselage's attitude), the hull doesn't follow suit, thus the aircraft can take off and land in a more horizontal attitude, just as the well known Flying Flea! That in turn leads to that the steps on the hull doesn't need to be as big and draggy as on a conventional flying boat!
