Another crappy day in Michigan (video)

Well it was another crappy(no sun, no what? You know that thing that...) day in Michigan. Nice dull, gloomy, just "shades of gray."

Wind was not too bad, so I took the easy out for some video shoots.

This is first try with my just built camera mount, and I can see the vibration when I throttle up before takeoff, but it smooths out in the air. I'll fix that before I head out again.

I flew around the Daimler Chrysler tech center in Auburn Hills, MI. This is just around the corner from my work so it is easy to head out there at lunch, or stop on the way in or on the way home.

It's 4.4 million sq ft, so it's kinda big.

When I got home last night, my FMA FS8 copilot receiver was there on the door, so I threw it on last night, and was ready to test today, but rain, rain, rain... and tomorrow is 5-8 inches of snow! Ugh.

I have ailerons/spoilerons/flapperons on teh easy, and I was going to stabilize roll with the ailerons. My past copilots only stabilized roll with rudder, so I was very anxious to see how it worked. Oh well, will have to wait until sometime next weak when the weather lets me out again.

Thanks,

Scott

If I just got a new FS8 I would have to fly sunshine, rain, or snow You will love the FS8 and the way it works. We need some good snow pictures and videos to look at, so you have your assignment for this weekend !!!

Jett,

Thanks. It's not my first FS8, just another one for another plane, so I do love it, that's why I got another one.

Snow and winter does not bother me. I have flown in pretty heavy snow. I would have flown in the rain today, but I don't have a good cover for my Tx. Not a good idea to stand in the rain or pelting snow with a 4-$500 Tx.

I have to just order one of those Tx gloves, but can't decide on which one to get.

The snow is not suppose to start until late afternoon, into the night. The way it has been around here lately, it will probably be 50 and melted by sunday. We'll do what we can...

Thanks Mike, the video is nothing great, very dark out, but I just had to get some stick time as the weather has been so bad.

That was an easystar with my flap mod.

It is another nice cheap airframe that works well for AP. It just does not want to slow down the way the old SS does. Even loaded at 40 oz, I could basically spot drop the SS in anywhere by performing an elevator because of the big ole undercambered wing with the end caps.

If I try that with the easy even with my flaps dropped, it will tip stall out of it.

But I can fly the easy in conditions I would not take the SS out in, and have many times without a thought about it.

I noticed the sound was lagging behind the video, especially after the landing, I could still hear the wind noise after you landed for several seconds. Nice video considering it was as overcast as it was. Thanks for sharing!
