Data
Kokam 910 15C Vs 2dogrc's Dualsky 1050 12C

Here is some test data I just finished. Both packs were new and no modifications or conditioning was done. Tests started at 1C and continued at 1C increments.

The Kokam Specs:
910 mAh 2s
Weight :2.1 oz (with connector)
Rated at 15C
Price $34.99 (LHS)Yes I actually paid for a battery!

The 2dogrc Dualsky Xpower Specs:
1050 mAh 2s
Weight:1.8 oz (with connector)
Rated at 12C burst 20C
Price $26.99

I have included a few graphs to make it easier to read.

The 14C was an experiment and conducted outside as the Dualsky batteries are only rated to 12C, not too shabby.

Boy that Kokam 15C 910 mAh looks pertty darn good ,does it not?
Is 15C the old rating or the newer adjusted rate?

How can the DualSky have more capacity and weigh less?

The Kokam 910mAh cell has unprecedented current delivery capability in that it can deliver up to 13.65 amps continuously with the loss of just 10% capacity.

Charles...I will see if I can get a picture of the two on the scale...
The 15C is what is advertised on the pack. Does it look good? I would say good, it held capacity (which was only about 850 at 1C) at the higher discharges. Unfortunately it did not to the 15C discharge...check out the other data in the vault.

Sometimes when a LiPoly fails to perform as advertised it is due to being tested incorrectly. I had this same problem over a year ago.

When all of the electric world notables achieve excellent results and us amateurs achieve such poor relative results it really shows that amateurs should not be allowed to post results on a forum as we give users
misinformation.

Charles,
I tested this battery as I do all other batteries I post. I use the same connectors and number of cycles when comparing graphs. I am confused as to how you think this is misinformation. If I am under rating the Kokam battery, then I guess all the batteries I've tested are under rated!

I would be more then happy to let you test this cell, and return it when finshed if you would like to compare notes.

That's the same logic I tried to use over a year ago.
If you go to that Thread and read not only post #26 but 27,28,29,30,31 a pattern starts to form.

Actually I am surprised that the 910 performed as well as it did.

Not trying to defend or promote any brand of LiPoly but one major problem as I see it is that they keep changing so fast.
It is next to impossible to compare LIPolys without comparing newer cells against older cells.

In this case when was the Kokam 910 first available retail and when was the DualSky 150 first available retail.

There are advancements being made by many manufactures and these new advanced cells are not all available to all vendors at the same time.

Since most vendors like to keep their source (OEM )secret and most do not even date code the packs much less the cells how does one go about comparing the latest available from each supplier. Just about the time the latest 8-10C ones are tested there are 10-12C to be tested and 15C and then 20 and 30C.
Maybe LiPoly vendors need to establish a model year for their products so that all cells of the same model year could be compared and we could all anxiously await the new models all at once.

Right now you purchase what looks to be the best 1200 mAh 3S 12C only to find out next week that the same vendor now has a 1050 15C which weigh less, cost less, holds higher volts under load and actually delivers more capacity.

Charles,
I agree that the batteries change rapidily. Every order I receive in the batteries are better. What I was showing here was that Dualsky batteries are not your Cheapie internet batteries! I wanted to let people know is that Dualsky can hang with the leaders in batteries. By no means am I saying Dualsky batteries are better then anything onthe market, that is not true. What is shown here is that Dualksy Batteries are worth the purchase and the consumer will not be disappointed.
