ban slope combat

Interesting....
I voted for no ban, EPP is safe.
It recorded my vote as no idea what combat is.

Ming,
I don't think they are targeting 'EPP Slope Combat' specifically. It looks more like a general ban that would inadvertently include slope combat.

I think we need to be careful that we don't overreact. A little hysteria could probably do more harm than good.

Let's try to explain what 'Slope Combat' is all about and ask that it be excluded from any proposed ban on intentional contact.

another thing to note as AMA's proposal would make full contact combat a violation of AMA rules, not illegal. So it wouldn't mean you couldn't do it, it just means you wouldn't be covered by AMA insurance should you choose to do it. Of course that hinders combat contest efforts.

I don't think AMA is targeting us specifically, they just don't realize that we would be inadvertantly affected, hence the email campaign.

True, it won't be illegal, but it could have a chilling effect on the small slope soaring industry (small as it is). It also would make slope combat less "legitimate" (for lack of a better word), to others. I know it won't stop people, even AMA members, from doing combat, but in the long run, I still think the rule is a bad thing.

I couldn't agree more....

Speaking of making slope flying "legitimate" I wonder why we don't have any slope events at the soaring nats? It'd be cool to see combat as a headline event at the Nats (assuming it doesn't get banned), it seems to me that's the kind of thing that would make the TV news.

Possibly because there aren't any slopes in Muncie Indiana?

Actually, there aren't any "offical" (perhaps that's the wrong word) international slope events either. From my understanding, even F3F slope racing is still considered provisional by the FAI.

aw now they must at least have a little bump out there somewhere, you don't have to have towering ocean side bluffs with blasting sea breezes to have fun, although it helps......

Lucky for us.
I just don't see the point. Especially with a thread like this.

Foam combat is safe, it's those deadly DS composite ships that need to be banned... Bungee jumping without a bungee is safer than that stuff.

The logic goes like this: Alex was bored. Dredging up old threads can sometimes result in people being 'tricked' into posting as if the thread were still current and then getting annoyed about being tricked. This provides a modicum of amusement for Alex. Clearer now?

Non-original controversy.

Would it help if I put it this way?

Cut it the out.
