eddy current effect demo videos

Some nice videos demonstrating the huge effect of eddy currents (a.k.a. Foucault currents) and the benefits of statorlamination (insulated thin sheets of iron, not a massive iron stator/transformer) or even rotor/magnet 'lamination':

Something you can do yourself. Just let a Neodymium magnet slide down a metal (non-ferrous) tube or a length of angled metal and then let it slide down a plastic tube and see the difference. First an aluminium ring than a magnetic ring

Hey fly_boy99,

After seeing Ron's great demo, are you now going to keep all your aluminum parts out of the magnetic path?

To keep things a bit simpler for you the best way to identify magnetic loss is by spinning the motor with a high speed grinder motor (I read that somewhere) and finding out what parts get hot.

To fix the 283, you need to modify the bearing tube, laminate the flux ring and use two half magnets,14x3 mm, instead of a full 14x6.

Then to keep the peak magnetic (and current) pulses down to the lowest level, switch from a wye to a delta.

Or, do you prefer flying with a motor/toaster?

Don't have a 283 and mount my stators with CF...

How you like those apples???

I have not found one person on RCG that believes in your magnetic gear ratios either!!!

Or any other conductor/metal. But there's no problem if the metal does not move in the magnetic field.

Were you serious when you said laminate the flux ring , because that was poo ,pooed in a discussion a few months back

I won a $5 bet with my kids that my "magic" metal cylinder would take 10x longer to pass through an aluminum tube than a another "regular" metal cylinder!
Like taking candy from a baby!.
