Idea
Mr. Boogies JSF F-35 with thrust vectoring

Finally adding this modification to my F-35.
Have yet to test it fully in flight, but maybe I can outclass the Suhkois and do the "Cobra"?

Yeah Tow,

We need better and bigger pictures!

You say you have yet to fully test it in flight, implying that you have tested somewhat.....

Details man, details!

You are going to need a bigger servo i think you will find. the thrust from the engine will overpower the servo and you wont get full thrust vectoring capability. you will at lower power but when at full power i think you will find it wont be able to push it around to well. + if the servo is OVER loaded constantly you might cook (short circuit) it and this could cause receiver problems its happened before.

That said i LOVE your jet and the idea looks Grate cant wait to see her fly.

Good luck.

I like the setup tow.

What's the weight penalty? and have you tested movement of the tailcone on the bench at WOT? This would be one way to preview functionality.

Weight increase is I think insignificant, a few grammes over the weight of the added servo shouldn`nt mean much. I tested tailcone movement at WOT and that works fine. I may need more movement maybe, but that remains to be seen. I tried a system earlier using vanes in the duct coupled to the tailerons, wich turned out to be a WILD ride to say the least! Barely saved the bird down in one piece! Working in the vertical pitch only seem like a much better idea.

This is an issue I agree - if it turns out the servo isn`t up to the job or a more rigid setup is called for I go for that. To prevent current overdrain I will use an Ubec sircuit.

Just curious...

How did you do that, and is the vector nozzle sealed to the exhaust tube, or is it just around it?

Great stuff!
I also like to have more details on the nozzle. Material, shaping, mounting...
If it turns out to work well I might put them on the flanker...

Marc.

The vector-nozzle rotates freely around the outlet-tube since it has a slightly wider inner diameter .The outlet protudes ca.4mm into the exhaust-cone and allowes for some movement.
