fan drive-s f/a-18 kc bug

well i finally got to try out my new setup today, wow let me tell you what a diferance, its nice to step on the pedal launcher, full throttle, pull up and go vertical till its a speck!!!! i wouldnt say it gos 90 mph, but its fast enough for me,+ all the controls are crisper and cleaner espeicialy when you roll. i had a promax cobalt 11t before i went brush less, and i cant really say theres a diferance in duration, i never waited till the bug lost power to land, but after landing i ran motor and still had about 30-45 sec. of max power. well i guess thats it im hooked!!!!!!!!!!! forever to be a bl junkie!!!! already planing my twin mf-480 bl jet, im thinking something with around a 35in. ws about 50in. long auw between 50-55 oz. dual bl on 15-20 zapped cp1300 cells, any ideas???

heres a ? i run 10cp-1300 in my fun smile combo and bats a fairly hot, but i also tried 8cp-1700 and they seem to run much cooler why?????????
also wish i could get my hands on kc original f-18 plans, blow them up 33% and that will fit the bill perfect for my twin!!!!!!!!! willing to pay for them! what do you think kevin cox?????????????

When you are running 10 cells you are pulling a lot more current than when you are running on 8. Also the CP1300 cells might well get a bit hotter than the CP1700 cells under the same load. I would have thought you would notice quite a difference in performance between running 8 and 10 cells. I will be using 10 CP1700 cells in mine eventually with a Plett 200/25/4, i use this combo in my Kyosho f-16 with MF480 and it really moves compared to the standard setup.

hot bats

hey stuey, i did notice the diff between 8-1700 and 10-1300 no vertical on the 8, but since i had the batt figured id give it a try, its sort of like the 10 cell is like a 2 stroke and the 8 is a 4 stroke, not a lot of speed but still climbed out, just slower, when i first launched the bug with the bl setup i wasnt prepared, so when it left the bungee i gave it a little up and full throttle and the little bug went strait vertical!!!!!!!!!!! so on the following launchs i just let it climb out on its own, and advanced throttle slowly. tell me then how hot will the batts get if i use 12 cp-1300????

I dont know, i would imagine that if 10 cells makes 38A, then 12 cells might end up 45-50A which is a lot and might get you to the moon. It would certainly need cooling air to the cells, and the run time would be pretty short. Maybe someone has the figures for 12 cells?

ESB, if you run those 12 cells you will most likely be over the Max continuos current rating of your Smile 40-6-12. You dont want the Magic smoke to escape from it!!
